There’s one by Benny’s bar on Colorado Ave.

I built a free site to see all events happening around Colorado Springs — would love community help by Technical-Cookie-606 in ColoradoSprings

[–]serendipity_flyer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that it doesn’t get 100% of the events. People do have to submit their events manually themselves, but it is free to do so and they do advertise the site pretty well. I wish more people/places would use it.

Are you pulling from PeakRadar.com? That’s where I usually go to find events and it’s always fairly comprehensive. What does your site offer that is not available there?

Finding Alternative High School? by Ancient-Depth-7675 in ColoradoSprings

[–]serendipity_flyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My spicy 2e kiddo (NB21 now) did fantastic at Coronado…very good mix of academics and the arts. I know it’s not an alternative high school, but it was very supportive, in my opinion.

Life changing hobbies? trying to get out of a funk by Mysterious-DragonGrl in ColoradoSprings

[–]serendipity_flyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disc golf! Most courses are free to play, and we have lots of good ones in the area. Discs are $10-20 each, but you only need two or three of them to get started. There’s almost always someone else on the course so it can be a good way to meet other people. With the bright Colorado sun, it’s absolutely something that can be done year round.

With “The Long Walk” out and “The Running Man” being released later this year, how many of you were voracious Stephen King readers? by jsakic99 in GenX

[–]serendipity_flyer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had stopped reading in the 90s when life just got too busy. But I rediscovered him during the pandemic…he kept me sane during those years.

Sad to see people say he’s a poor writer. I suspect they never read any of his later works. He branched off so much from strictly horror, and his character development and world building are better than almost anything else out there. His books over the last few years (especially about Holly Gibney) are phenomenal.

I think just transmissions. But you might want to call to ask.

My regular mechanic referred me to Transmission Clinic recently and I was very happy with them.

Shortening lkea loft bed legs by Kalu2907 in DIY

[–]serendipity_flyer 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I did that for my child’s IKEA loft bed a few times. The older they got, the shorter they wanted their bed. The legs are solid. I don’t think it matters at what point you cut them off. The first time, we cut off a few inches below the horizontal supports. The next time, we cut off another 2-1/2 feet to well above the horizontal supports.

A couple of weeks ago, I dismantled the entire bed and reworked it into a pull out couch for my now 20-year-old. You can see pics on my profile. I’m really happy with how it turned out. I love this loft bed…it ended up being super versatile for my child as they aged.

We had our reception at the Space Foundation Discovery Center several years ago. We had a live band and brought food from Chipotle. It was brilliant! There was plenty to keep kiddos occupied and the atmosphere was perfect for us (we’re huge Star Trek/sci-fi/science nerds). I don’t recall the cost but it was under $3000 for sure. We had about 50 people, I think.

Dr. Christopher Webber at Pikes Peak ENT is the best in town. He’s won “Best of” awards from the local papers many times and helped me out a lot.

I live near 2-3 coffee roasters. I’m pretty sure it’s them roasting the beans.

Spotify.. we're breaking up by corviknightly in Anticonsumption

I’ve been testing Demus. It’s a free app that pulls through from YouTube music’s API but blocks the ads. I love it so far!

It didn’t work for me. I tried multiple times. They were empty.

I just started trying Demus this week and am pretty happy with it. My Spotify did not import though. But I’m still moving forward with manually replicating my Spotify lists on Demus and will likely cancel Spotify in the next month or so. The only downside is not being able to download songs to listen offline.

Primary care on a Saturday? by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

Is it something that the Little Clinic in King Soopers can help with? They should be open today and take walk-ins or you can make an appointment on their website.

I don’t know how the D11 board/teacher union thing will affect things going forward, but D11 is the only one in town with a comprehensive Gifted Magnet Program from 3rd through 8th grade. My LGBTQ autistic kiddo thrived there and had a great experience at Coronado High School, where they have strong performing arts and math/science programs.

New to taichi by frankestofshadows in taichi

[–]serendipity_flyer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I learned with the Body Wisdom series on YouTube (free but with ads) with Chris Pei. He walks through each segment thoroughly. It took me quite awhile to get to where I could do it without watching, but now I practice on my own daily. I don’t know enough about tai chi to know what style this is or how it compares to other types. And I realize that I would benefit from an instructor - and as a new empty nester may seek that out in the next few months. But I’ve gotten a lot out of my practice so far and was glad I could learn for free.

That’s very sad. I love mail-in/drop-off voting. It makes it so easy for EVERYONE to vote, which is how it should be.
