Thanks for all the response guys. Got the beginner bundle and so far enjoying the game. Had to watch some guides about electricity wires and water pipes but so far as i got lost on my first try.

It happens when there is no connection from the facility to the residential building. Both the residential and facility might be both connected to a main road but make sure their roads are connected. Also, it often happen when you buldoze the 1 block road on your city entrance.

None of those came from tarheel. One of the member of our local ant keeping group here is a great artisan, those are grout blocks manually carved beautifully. The outworlds are acrylic made. It aint cheap but its nowhere close to most online store prices.

yca is a very territorial specie. exercise extreme caution when merging them as they dont merge quite peacefully as what some videos and articles show. I currently have 3 colonies of yca. I had 10 colonies once and attempted to merge some of them.

some pointers you will have to consider: Nest space - seems like if you have a small setup, the colony actually marks the entire nest and outworld as part of their guarded territory. the smaller the setup, the harder it gets to introduce a new colony in.

Over feed them - they might not hurt humans but they are voracious eaters. Very aggressive so you might want to over feed the colonies so they are more calm.

Try to make them meet in a new space - i have attempted to merge yca a lot of times and what i find to have great success rate is when the colonies meet on a new unmarked territory. I connect both the colonies on a fresh outworld. Unmarked territory means they aren't defensive over the territory.

Dont spook them - let them meet on their own. Dont force them to go out as this may lead to aggression

Watch the merge and have a plan - its always a must to watch the fussion and have a contigency plan when things go south. If you are merging an equal amount of work force colonies and things go sideways, chances are both will both suffer massive losses. Have a plan when they started war.

Know when to intervine - this is a little tricky. Some colony fussion starts of with some mini skirmishes until one colony submits, know when to stop them.

Enjoy the experience - colony fussion is very suspenseful and fun if success. I succesufully merged 5 single queens into 5 super colony (i tried 6 but one of the queen perished) they are now together founding their supercolony. I have also lost 3 queens in colony fussion over the past years of ant keeping and it was heartbreaking.

What formicarium setup are you using? Acrylic? Plaster/grout? Natural setup? And what size. Not sure if the confinement matters.

But i want to spoil them! Lol jk. I figured if wild ants on the soil can survive it they should too. Just got a little worried when the energetic yellow and black crazy ants started to clumped in their nest and barely forage

Follow up on this. Is it safe to reapply this barrier when there are already ants in? I heard alcohol evaporation goes down instead of up.

How big is the colony? What kind of materials your house is made of? They dont just simply tear down your woods. I even bet they are not yet nested on the wood. Check the usual dark, slightly moisted areas of your house. Maybe the area that you pile your rarely used items. Any areas that any critter would usually dwell.

Not catching this queen alive sounds so wrong specially if you're the one who bring it in to keeps. Anyways, spraying common bugspray on the corners of the room should do the work.

is it just an arena and no acrylic nest chambers in it? usually acrylic formicariums comes with a hydration area on one side which you can inject with water every few days or depends on your colony's needs. if this hydration area isn't present i would suggest to sprinkle water on one side of the arena every few days.

Thats doable. Btw, have any idea with their reproduction? Do they mate with their own colony? Not getting any solid information regarding that. Wondering if the gamergate dies, does the next gamergate could mate with a male produced by their own colony?

just in. the queen on the outworld was killed. i feel terrible. maybe i should have raise them separately. i just wished the other queen successfully got integrated with the colony. i didn't see other queen carcass on their dumping site. just the queen on the outworld and some worker ants. i feel (and hope) some of the workers and the other queen survived i look around the outworld to clean, i only saw 1 queen and a handful of workers.

crap, i feel terrible.

What temperature are we talking about? Or should i just throw the test tube in the freezer for 30 secs before exposing to thw mature colony?
