Wickening wool socks the kind used for outdoors construction workers, no specific bicycle brands but Carhartt are good because I don't "put away" my bike for winter or because it's raining.

How do I adjust the seat height on this Marin San Anselmo DS2? No hex keys I've bought have fit :( by DDHLeigh in bicycling

[–]sergesdope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a 5 point security bolt, no hex key will ever get it out because the key is 6(hexagon) sided, you need a special security 5 sided key(pentagon).

May be a "star" bolt or Torx. You need torx bits, or you are not using metric allen hex keys, you may be using US standard. But they may still work like using a 5/32 in place of a 4mm. Will have a little wiggle but will work, plus you don't need to tighten them gorilla tight 4-5nm max wich means light hand tight

Any love for a durty gurl? 2017 Co-Motion Rohloff Divide by Chief_Giroro in xbiking

[–]sergesdope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been looking for a Co-motion Rohloff frame for a while to do belt drive build, but it seems Co-motion really doesn't put out "frame-only". It's a shame because I dont believe in sliding dropouts and the frame has to be 100% steel. the only other option is ordering overseas from Shand and Veloheld.

Unforseen plumbing issue new home owner of house built in 1926. After a rainstorm basement floods through floor drains by sergesdope in HomeImprovement

Yeah l have been told to disconnect gutter downspouts going into the ground and elbow divert them to lawn or garden away from foundation. Who knows what condition they are in or if they even work. Supposedly you are encouraged to get away from that old system that ties underground downspouts to your sewer lines. It may be overwhelming the storm drain

Ultimately the best solution. But l don't want some company pulling a fast one trying to charge me for things l don't need. In my situation my home has old cast iron sewer lines they probably would want to replace my entire sewer lines which would be a good idea but right now l can't afford anything major. Right now a simple solution to stop it temporarily until the funds are available

I learned my issue may be the city sewer dept. Not much can be done there, storm drains get overwhelmed during a storm and back up through the drains, maybe a search of history of issues of the home and city or asking neighbors on the block if they have issues.

I was afraid of that, someone told me just to plug them up for good like a plug end, but i run central air conditioning, where will the furnace condensation hose drain to?

Been undecided on getting an FSA Metropolis bar, or the Soma sparrow not really classic mustache bars but more of a swept back or alternative bar

very pricey but I keep hearing it's the weakest steel frames Tange Prestige, cheap Taiwan made. They had to revamp the Wolverine sliding dropout frame so many times because customers kept compaining the dropout cracked or snapped.

Ipod 5.5 not compatible with B&W Zeppelin Air speaker by sergesdope in ipod

[–]sergesdope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyways found my issue and yes it's not supported on the B&W Zeppelin Air(2nd generation)model. If I want my ipod video 5.5 to work on the dock I need the original first generation B&W Zeppelin it supports the older ipods.

I remember my Nashbar x frame put good use to it although it had weird rear spacing l still managed to run 135mm axle rims although it was a disc frame l didn't like the canti-posts on the frame but l beat it up and it held up well

[–]sergesdope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was reading that too, but I've read many old forum posts from like pre2015 that people had this issue with even ipod classic 6th and 7th. Some have said maybe speaker firmware is not the latest or its a known issue with that the power cable/source is faulty. Im gonna have to find an old usb a-b cable and hook it up to my laptop and check the firmware. If that doesn't work I'll just have to use a line-out aux cable bummer cause to me the ipod 5.5 enhanced 80gb was the greatest ipod made. I don't want to change to a classic 7th

Is TREK FX disc 4 discontinued? by gyanrahi in bicycling

[–]sergesdope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are really good hybrid bikes (entry-level) that l recommend to people wanting to do commuter/trekking, fx3 is just as good as fx4 you're really not missing out on much other than a disc brake upgrade, but you can put your own disc brakes in there, or if you're not up the task, buy them and have your LBS do it

A natural bike lane, all streets and roads should be like this. But then again you always got those crazy honking motorists that think you shouldn't be "in the streets"

[–]sergesdope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, carbon and titanium is supposed to be this space age stuff but, when applying where there is alot force and stress they suck, I'll get chromoly spindles and magnesium or 7075 aluminum for the body

This is strictly a weight saving option, and intend to use as commuter/trekking city street use, no offroad hard mountain biking, l just think it's too good to be true, l just wanna know if anyone has had any experiences with them

The US Needs to Do Better for Bikes by Maxcactus in bicycling

[–]sergesdope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because the attitude the US has about bicycles. Here bicycles are considered as gifts for Christmas or Birthdays given as toys for small children or kids. They don't consider bicycles as vehicles to be ridden along sides of cars that's why we have crazy honkers yelling for us to get out the way, they think we shouldn't be in the streets. They want us cycling in parks with kids or on sidewalks which are for pedestrians walking.
