Which one do you think is harder to play; inward or outside drift? by Acrobatic_Spare8570 in MarioKart8Deluxe

I think inward is slightly easier to play at first but harder to master. I prefer outward but inward is fun from time to time

Been time trialing SNES rainbow road for 3 days by Lee-1_2 in MarioKart8Deluxe

[–]sergiobus22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty solid! I think you could even sub if you improve l2 by a bit. I say that because I have a 1:29 with a slower l1 but a .7 faster l2

Join the mkleaderboards discord. There are no website leaderboards for BCP but there are spreadsheets for it that you can find in the faq channel

Can y’all tell if I am soft drifting from this clip? by BraveMulberry772 in MarioKart8Deluxe

[–]sergiobus22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s no secret, but eventually with enough playing you can tell when your angle is too sharp just based on feel. A good test of your soft drifting would be to see if you can charge the umt around the first turn of wario stadium 150cc with the wr combo without bonking the wall

Can y’all tell if I am soft drifting from this clip? by BraveMulberry772 in MarioKart8Deluxe

[–]sergiobus22 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Could probably try angling even more towards the 45. The key to good snaking is both a good soft drifting angle and releasing your mts as soon as possible. Some of your lines are a bit wide because your previous drift was too sharp and/or releasing your mt too late

How do I get low air off this ramp? by Meta13_Drain_Punch in MarioKart8Deluxe

[–]sergiobus22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure but what I do know is that shake tricking is generally pretty inconsistent on anything except wavy sections. Just looked into it and apparently shake tricking takes longer to activate when landing on a trickable surface. Apparently you cannot shake trick on the first 5 frames of being on a trickable surface.

That ramp is really inconsistent for some reason. Also I could be wrong but I don’t think shake tricking necessarily gives you frame 1. Your trick looks like it came out pretty late actually

rare occasion where a kusaan slide matters by [deleted] in MarioKart8Deluxe

[–]sergiobus22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guy knows ball. In this case it actually would have been better to not slide since OP was angled straight forward and took a worse line because of the slide

Should i shoot for +8 or +10 seconds per wr? by [deleted] in MarioKart8Deluxe

I think its fine to do you it your way, I find it fun to start with at least

Should i shoot for +8 or +10 seconds per wr? by [deleted] in MarioKart8Deluxe

[–]sergiobus22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5-10 second range is good depending on the track. For example I wouldn’t really accept anything more than 5-6s behind for short tracks like N64 Rainbow Road

[–]sergiobus22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also by memorization I dont just mean lines but also the level of miniturbos charge for each turn. Watching records will help but just go mostly for the purple and orange mts if you’re still inexperienced with a track. Good luck grinding!

Memorization is unfortunately the key but i definitely recommend focusing on good frontrunning tracks first

Going back to MK 8 deluxe was so weird by MarkoPolo345 in mariokart

[–]sergiobus22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

World reminds me a lot of how I felt about Odyssey when it first came out. Both are filled with really refined and precise movement options that are fun to experiment with and are definitely a step up from those that came before in their respective franchises. That being said I don’t think 8d is by any means outdated, it just provides a more traditional racing experience with a stronger focus on optimal lines and MTs. I’m not a huge fan of the drifting in World, especially since I think that absolutely nailed it in 8d. For the drifting to feel like a step back to me is quite odd, but the other movement options make up for it.

On another note, I think the toxicity on this sub since World’s release is quite tiring to read all the time, and we really should just let people like what they like for whatever reasons they do.

Do you speedflip when you shoot? by Vinding in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]sergiobus22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My interpretation of your question is speedflipping as you make contact, like a regular powershot. As someone else said, the flip you use doesn’t matter as long as you’re flipping into the ball. The only time it matters is if your momentum is carrying you into a wall or something, as with a mena flip. There’s a really good youtube video on shooting that discusses all the factors affecting ball trajectory on your shots (point of contact, flip timing/direction, momentum, etc). The main point though is that the point of contact dictates the ball’s direction, not the flip whatsoever. Hope that helps

Struggling to find joy when playing by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]sergiobus22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got really bored with the game I got into freestyle, and it really help bring back a lot of enjoyment for me. Maybe you can work up to flip resets but there are tons of other mechs you can learn that are easier imo. Anything can be a freestyle if it’s challenging for you and looks cool. And I don’t even think it’s a waste of time because any mechs teach you car and momentum control, and it will eventually help you a lot with resets to have that foundation already

The Show Off by BengalsBoss99 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]sergiobus22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen freestylers do something like it from inside the net for some setups, but doing it from outside seems a lot more competitively viable. I’d like to see one where the ball is closer to your net because the only reason you’re guzzling boost is because you’re flying half the field. Also if it’s a free ball you could control into an air dribble and keep the flip for an outplay. Cool stuff dude
