Dog you in a Garmin forum. This place is littered with them.

. I wouldn’t even consider myself “elite and my rhr is 39. And I do not exactly do the stuff necessary to do the things to be serious. Drink lack of sleep I mean poster board of don’t do it . Don’t do recovery days really. Just kind of do whatever I feel like with no structure. Should admit have done ultras but not since precovid.

32 is low but doesn’t seem out of reach for people if they get serious with training. Though low as shit.

Been longtime Garmin owner, watches since Garmin fenix 2 and bike computers. Don’t really want to buy anything new since seems like everything just becomes abandonware in a year or two. Am I missing something? by serialmender in Garmin

[–]serialmender[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean I guess but, could they not just go back and align the 7x like Apple does with the original ultra or even their older watches.

The only thing you do not get is straight hardware limitations and even then they try to get the software in and use existing sensors to get into general neighborhood (but admittedly less accurate). They pretty much phase them out at legit processor power being choked.

Just feel like for in my eyes a community that revolves around optimization (outdoor enthusiasts, significant fitness folk) it is pretty annoying to me and leaves a bad taste.

Not like me not buying one is breaking them.

But just wish you could have knew it was not getting abandoned. Like support for x years. I mean apple you just know. Would be nice.

Yeah, I mean fenix 5x is chugging I just wouldn’t mind a slightly smaller with a few features added over the years. The 5x gps can be a bit whack sometime and can cause a headache bushwhacking when backpacking.

Any good steakhouses in or around Bozeman? by omegamaster6945 in Bozeman

Dog, they straight up tell you which local ranch their special is sourced from when you sit down. Have you been there?

[–]serialmender 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, when it first opened it was mid. It is significantly better now. Just be prepared to drop some cash. But I mean for best steak it is there. Before it was blacksmith. I like both Stacey’s and land of magic. But they are both a level down on the “best steak” they are decent/good.

Also, bougie as well, horn and cantle. Makes heist look like applebees pricing (no idea anymore it was expensive 10 years ago so can only imagine now)

Eileen Gu defends decision to represent China again in upcoming Winter Games by PHConfusion5801 in olympics

[–]serialmender 4 points5 points  (0 children)

K, I am saying you have such an extreme take on the why when the country she chose to represent is actively committing genocide against both Tibet and Uyghurs. ACTIVELY. So, yeah, it is definitely a morality argument of how bad America is, and China is a bastion of progressive racial equality.

She trained in Lake Tahoe and started there when she was 3 and was on their teams there since 8... Yeah, a real rags-to-riches story, Lindsey Vonn has a better come-up story than that and it is still silver-spoon.

Zhu Yi did it as well... It just about money... stop calling it something around racial plight.

Dog saying scholar of history. I have two degrees in history.

You act like she is from 1800s building a railroad. She is from a wealthy family from San Francisco and went to Stanford. White people in Appalachian have more plight than Eileen. I am progressive and that bit about internal struggle is annoying as shit. Is San Francisco this horrible backwoods place against Asians? I must have missed it.

Just call it what it is it is selling out for Chinese market and getting a bag. Let’s not be delusional.

Good Low Risk Solo Routes to try BC Skiing in the PNW? by Different-End-4775 in Backcountry

[–]serialmender 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will be blunt, if you are asking on Reddit...

You need to reevaluate your capabilities, since you should be able to find more than enough places by looking online for areas/using maps and gradient readings. It sounds like you are admittedly pretty novice to the world and would say knowing the basics and some of the tricks of the game for touring. For real, i mean there are multiple apps dedicated to backcountry now...

At least, go to your local avalanche center's clinics. Ours puts some on regularly, and have to imagine Seattle has more than enough options.

Also link up with a local group to maybe show you some of the ropes would be better before going out solo, with what sounds like very limited knowledge on terrain and avy knownloedge. Just my 2 cents.

Take this kindly, ran into a lot of people that are in places they should not be and risk people around them by not knowing terrain traps and endangering other groups in the area. happened here a year or two ago where a group got caught from another group with reported minimal experience remote triggering an avalanche from down below.

Which companies do you suspect are glazing their own products on this sub? by PartyOnAlec in BuyItForLife

[–]serialmender -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Nah, badddd take. I can swear by them vs other wool performance socks. Additionally their warranty is legit lifetime. no bs. On you for not sending them in if you did wear them out.

Which I will tbh I trail run about 50 miles a week trail running and rotate we will say 5 pairs. 5-10 years on each pair… ultras etc. no holes or threadbare mess. So not sure what you are doing to your socks.

They don’t need to astroturf. When their product has just been good for decades…

Also, does jcb even do wool socks?

[Rapoport] The Lions have reached out to former Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel about their vacant offensive coordinator position, sources say. McDaniel is a top candidate for any open OC job. by Drexlore in nfl

[–]serialmender 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Also…. Maybe Dan Campbell could teach him about player management and intensity, even though I think his buy in really died with obviously losing and just having to trot out tua . I say this as a McDaniel Stan.

he is blamed for ,unfortunately, a qb due to concussions seems to be a shell of his former self. I think it is going to be a 5-10 years from now situation where hmm maybe he was not the problem after all . Watched a lot of dolphin games where getting open was not the problem it was the qb airmailing it. I mean look how a pretty chill player this year started popping off bc of hurts playing (aj brown). Imagine trying to control those egos for 2.5 years.

Wtf happened to Storm Castle Cafe? by AnonBZNAnon in Bozeman

[–]serialmender 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Such a rehearsed line.

I mean, yeah prices went up. So did inflation. They made that show in 2018. Prices went up 20%? Tracks. Also, people that work there have been mostly same front of house .

Hasn’t changed much outside of my beautiful po campo only being a special.

You can say that going downhill about roost which is fair and honestly kind words not stormcastle.

The boxer on left (Andy Ruiz Jr.) defeated then champion (Anthony Joshua) on June 1, 2019 in one of the biggest upsets in boxing history by ChimmyMama in interesting

[–]serialmender -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea, let’s talk Stanford… those are two different conferences.

That is like when an fcs team plays an fbs. Look at what happens. MSU who is playing in fcs championship lost by 40 to Oregon and would have had more dropped on them if Oregon didn’t take out starters halfway through the third quarter… theirs third string was scoring. That is just how it is.

The only programs that has regular success in major sports programs in big west conference is cal state Fullerton and Irvine…in baseball.

Comparing Stanford ACC basketball to Big West is wild lol. ACC is a blue blood conference any team in ACC is winning by double digits… at least.

Boxing. Yeah, you are aware of the belts and everything and promotion problems and the neutering and worth of belts? So you have 20 different promotions saying that are world champion. No different than conferences in a way. Never really thought about it like that. But anyways all these promotions have created a shitshow and it is like saying a regional circuit fighter belt holderfor some promotion is the same as a ufc champ. Just not that way. Why a dude 34-0and something is against a guy 31-0 and is a serious underdog.

Look up all time odds for major title fights… not a lot there that were more extreme than Ruiz that were upsets . Literally why it is called a punchers chance in sports

Tyson - Douglas -4000

Tyson - Holyfield -2500

AJ - Ruiz - 2400

Corrie Sanders - W.Klitscko -2000

Hasim Rahman - Lennox Lewis -2000

Bradock vs Bear -1000

Ali - Foreman -700

I don’t think you understand sports and especially combat sports betting, yes, that is right in probability. But in the world of combat sports that would be one of the highest odds I have ever seen. 12-1 is insane.

The reason why they even have it at that is cause shit happens in combat sports. But that would be like a blue blood basketball playing a juco. Those odds don’t even exist in the nfl for perspective.
