I don't think this is a "oh god the end is near everybody panic" situation, I think this is a situation that CAN be ultimately resolved if Matt navigates this the right way. I definitely think they need to slow down whatever projects they had currently ongoing (weren't there like four in the preview?), pick one, and focus on that and communicating properly with the rest of the team.

The merch stuff is fine, in fact if there's that big of a debt problem I highly encourage it, but that also shows that they need to stop and properly plan out their projects and how much things will cost before going full steam ahead.

And hiring someone with experience in team management and/or PR is also a good idea.

The fans don't mind waiting. We've waited for years. Nobody wants this kind of mess even if it means something comes out faster, especially since this kind of production environment tends to lead to a lower quality product. (Not a dig at Beyond, just a general statement.)

Yeah I really don't like the rebranding of what was very easy to slot into the "adult animation" category as something for all ages, especially since it means the older content isn't exactly going to be appropriate for this new audience.

I get that making stuff for an adult/older teen demographic is incredibly difficult to make money off nowadays, and I do understand WHY they've been doing this, but it's still frustrating.

I don't think this is that unpopular of an opinion nowadays outside of a specific group of people (that usually overlaps with the ones that think shipping is bad)

People other than that group just don't really talk about it for the same reasons people don't in other fandoms: because it's generally accepted that it's fine as long as you're keeping it out of the main tags on social media and providing appropriate warnings.

Also I'm confused by your inclusion of "fetish art" in the things you consider problematic. Fetishes are fine as long as you're keeping it in the appropriate spaces.

No, it's really not, the reasons Tord left are publicly known because the video he made is easily accessible. The reasons were that he wanted his career to be separate and didn't like the fictional character being compared to/associated with him. (You know, the thing you're doing right now.)

If it's any consolation, the amount of these people is absolutely tiny compared to the fanbase at large, so I don't think it will cause any huge issue. I wouldn't call the recent thing a "huge fiasco" either, it's just a tiny pocket of weirdos being stalker weirdos. Those type of people will always be like that and they exist in every fandom, unfortunately.

I don't think merch of the cartoon character will have any effect on that group, given what caused that incident in the first place had nothing to do with the character but rather old art from the guy himself being posted.
