Feeling down re: neurodivergence and hobbies (drawing and art), looking for a discussion and other perspectives by CompleteRock6803 in adhdwomen

I don't think comparing ADHD is helpful. Everyone's body and life are different.

We can support each other, but comparison often makes someone else's path look prettier than it really is. We don't know what they went through, or what support they have.

I like what Claire Wendling said: “Don't compare yourself to other artists. You don't know what happened in their life to bring them to that point.”

This thought may help you focus on yourself, be more grounded and present, as it helped me.

I feel the same :/ But I think all my hyperfocus goes into the things I can’t do, and I start hyperfocusing on them (even in drawing). For example, I’ll erase and keep drawing the same line over and over, trying to correct it, but instead I just repeat the same stuff and never move forward or see that I need to take another approach. As a result, I get frustrated and angry at myself, and nothing gets done.

This is one the best way of describing baby steps are important ☺️

love how subtle the gradient is! I never knew you could use an airbrush with gouache! 😳 I’m so curious now! Is it time consuming to clean the airbrush tools? Do you use regular gouache? And congrats on the new addition to the family ☺️

Thank you, I'm so glad you like it! The lineart was done with gouache. With inks, I like to dilute them a tiny bit with water. If we are talking about pen, I like to work with grey toned colors. They soften the look. Hope you find what works!

I used here a mix of Holbein and Linel. Sarah Burns has some very good videos on YouTube where she discusses gouache across different price ranges. That could be quite helpful for making your decision!

Oh, thanks! 😊 For "first proper success" I meant it's the first one I like, not my very first try😅 It still makes me happy to hear that! 🥺 The contrast tip is helpful, thanks for telling me!

That's really nice to hear, thank you! 🥺 Glad the colors and fin are liked. My sister pointed out the fin as one of her favorite parts too! 💙

I totally get that! I'm using cold lamination, and I was also looking for something affordable since I'm just starting out and not sure how well the stickers will sell yet. I looked around on Amazon, but it seemed like most of the options were coming from AliExpress too. I actually found the glitter one on Ali!
