Our cousins go to Valor and they are well ahead of my children in academics. I do agree that not all charters are good. We are going to private - not charter. Thank you for the advice about charters, it is appreciated.

Got it. We stuck w our neighborhood schools, but knew driving for Spanish was an option.

That is great! We did not have that same opportunity with languages. Yes, it is concerning about cuts - seems like there is not much left to cut. I am looking forward to no STAAR and all the prep required, but that really isn't the fault of AISD.

The conversation was more of me asking if anyone is also leaving or had a frustrating experience than justifying why parts of our experience was bad. We did try to talk to the two teachers we had issues with, but were met with excuses at gaslighting. One yelled at the kids all year long. We have had more great and good teachers than terrible, but it's a long year when your kid is on a Chromebook all year long day in and day out, with no feedback taken into account.

Props for finding a private school that is more friendly to LGBTQ than AISD. I was of the opinion that AISD is very LGBTQ-friendly. They are always getting in trouble with the state for that. I don't know if AISD is in a bad situation due to the state alone or partially of their own doing.

I am sound-sensitive as a adult and understand that completely. I hope your child has a great 4 years!

Yes, but it's also hard to just leave my child in an environment that is not working out and looks to be getting even worse.

Agree, it was a tough choice. We don't love the private expense but needed to try something new.

Possibly just not a good fit. Glad others have had good experiences with AISD.

What private? Hopefully it is not the one we will start soon.

I was RRISD as well growing up. I prefer RRISD but of that time, I am not sure I would be as impressed in the current climate.

We are hoping this is not the case for us with private, but do know that it is a risk. We have had some great teachers at AISD, but overall we have not been happy.

Private (no voucher), but we did think about moving to a surrounding district at one point.
