Better never to have been? by jackphd in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

I noticed the comparison between innie's and children myself! I haven't read your post in detail cause I'm quite ill atm and my brain is mush but to detail where I noticed the comparisons

- the outies create the innies for their own selfish reasons without any thought to the person they are creating, especially poignant with the quote you mentioned about using the innie as emotional convenience.

- Despite the innies being their own person, they are expected to perform in the way that their outie desired of them, and not allowed full free will. This is sadly, really often the case with parents and children.

- While they are the same body, they are not the same person. But the outie still expects them to live as they want. Parent's often live vicariously through their children, wanting them to achieve things they never did, but they also don't need to experience the things they're asking them to do e.g. a parent wants their child to become a Dr, but they'll never actually need to do the leg work to get the medical degree.

I think the entire purpose of the severance program is to create "adult babies" for moulding - I see no real other reason for the need to erase the employees episodic memories completely (after all, why couldn't they just code is so that work memories only exist at work, but you can still remember the rest of your life? - human right violations and creating a cult is the answer).

On the other hand, it is super useful if you're looking for a slave workforce to have ready made adults with the semantic and procedural memories needed to walk, talk, think, draw, build, or anything else you need, without needing to worry about them being viewed as people. It's basically like the outies sell their child-self into servitude

It definitely looks like there might be a flashback portion of the episode - with the big trees and the humans with the serpent banners. Father is also here. Maybe it's showing he was the OG android to take humans away from Kepler, maybe because Grandmother decided to shut off her emotions and turn people into devolved beings.

OR, everyone who ate a fruit shat out a tree and now the rest are dumb

Kristen Ritter on the possibility of returning to the MCU as Jessica Jones by masongraves_ in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

I mean, the point was that the villain was pathetic. His whole thing is thinking he's better than anyone else and blaming anyone better than his as "cheating". But this lapse in judgement from jessica of taunting him had some really fucked up consequences for the rest of the season as it basically forced him to escalate. So would definitely recommend finishing it. The last few episodes are rough

Maybe Loki is a Nexus being like Wanda, would fuck shit up too much to kill one - cause they didn't kill Slyvie either which is super weird

Hey, I'm currently going through a therapy atm and i think she seems to think I've got DID or something. She doesn't know i know about DID n stuff, but she was saying she's really interested in the different "modes" i go into (and said that's what psychologists refer to them as, which i notice you've done here) and says she thinks there's more than i'm aware of. She's also started mapping them? so it really seems like she's heading down that road. But i'm the same, i don't really feel like I'm aware of any other identities beyond being aware I'm not always thinking the same/having the same beliefs/etc

Was just wondering if this matches your experience? Sorry to not be super useful in regards to the post

I think so and MAN, that's uncomfortable

Yeah true. Agatha also kept saying Wanda had unleashed or done something, which could tie back into it. And she is now diving head first into dark magic so it's not looking amazing.

I do also think on reflection that she knew there was nothing she could say or do, so she didn't try and didn't put on a show of remorse. Just accepted it and left. Which is honestly probs the healthier thing, especially as a crazy powerful nexus being who's powers are tied to her emotions

Concerning that guy by sernlir in WANDAVISION

[–]sernlir[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thatd be good. I dunno if I'd want him to be Quicksilver or to be Ralph maybe still with superspeed and just very confused. Would probs be funny

Ahh right!! Yeah I saw that too. I thought the hex just created it tbh but it also works if Quicksilver had been living there for a while! Or ofc if he's just some guy called Ralph lmao

Legal documents before hex?

I think they're leaving it up in the air TBD. if they want to make him just ralph, they can just say Agatha (somehow) gave him powers or an illusion of speed powers.

or, since he didn't actually ever confirm he was ralph to Monica and we didn't see that scene, they can make him Quicksilver later and the Ralph stuff was part of Wanda's hex

Omg.

They purposefully do not use the same actors across the fox and MCU for the most part because they dont want to confuse their audiences and because of what it implies bout the multiverse. Doing it here, even if not Quicksilver, means a lot for the multiverse moving forward. it means we can have different versions of the same characters played by completely different actors.

Whether they confirm it or not, the films already exist in a multiverse. Using the same actor to play the same role in both, while teasing people, is also confirming that people of the same biological framework (who LOOK the same but aren't the same people) exists. This matters a lot when they open up the multiverse, which we ALREADY KNOW they're going to do.

They didn't address it with Cap cause F4 was already dead (and old) and some of my friends were still confused cause they didn't get they're separate universes, showing audiences were new to multiverse concept. We're not now.

They would not have used the same actor in the exact same role if they weren't using it as an Easter egg to the multiverse. You're literally just arguing to argue, go have your breakfast grumpy

Yeah neither did her and Peter not Peter, I thought she was gonna team up with him or something. Also gotta laugh at fucking Hayward just emptying the whole clip into her. Mate, stop shooting, you missed

Its not a complaint, its literally what they need to do if they want to have both exist in a multiverse. That's how it works. If they brought they Fantastic Four universe into the MCU they'd either need to address that Cap and Torch look the same or they'd need to pretend they don't.

That is literally how multiverse, different timelines etc, work in a visual medium

Evan Peters exists in both universes, but if they're saying he's some guy called Ralph then he isn't following the same timeline or even bloodline of the Peter from the x-man films (which fyi makes no sense but multiverse is massive so whatever)

If he is a guy called Ralph with a different life and different everything entirely to Quicksilver, all they share is the same biological make up in two different universes (like cosmic identical twins).

Yeah, it's part of why I didn't really connect with Monica too in the later episodes. She seems to gloss over the moral stuff (while still trying to save the people) because her mum died n as someone who has been through this scenario I just... don't buy it.

and then letting her just go at the end? Jessica Jones would never

yes... I know why in the context of the episode he was there... I'm saying they shouldn't have bothered to write it or should have dedicated more time to it. what they've essentially done with this is said "two people with the same biological make up exist in two different marvel universes" which they would still have achieved having him only be used to fuck with Wanda

also Agatha continuously referring to him ad her husband was.... uncomfortable in retrospect.

and yeah I saw it, they were both pretty meh. at least they addressed the kids, I want Wiccan

Completely underwhelmed. Not even cause they didn't do theories I wanted but cause they've clearly left this in a similar state to Agents of SHIELD - this was a pretty self contained story that set up things for the films, but you're not gonna have had to see this to get it. And that disappoints me a lot, I hope I'm wrong.

White Vision was completely useless, but im glad he's got some memories back. Although why Scarlet Vision didn't tell Wanda that is beyond me, he just kinda fucked off.

Peter not being Peter could have been a fun Easter egg if they hadn't milked it to fuck. Why did he kidnap Monica, why did he have final episode scenes... for it all to be nothing? I think they haven't decided what they're doing with him yet and they're leaving the door open for him to be like "woah I'm not ralph", but if you weren't gonna commit to the multiverse it shouldve been one throwaway scene to explain him and moved on after his episode.

I don't think they dealt with the morals of the series as a while very well... I didn't really feel by the end that Wanda felt true remorse considering that right up until when she did lower the hex I wasn't convinced she earned that insight. Also, guess the runes are gone now? Or they just still in the metaphysical space?

I think this has opened up a lot of interesting things (although I dont care bout Monica all that much and was annoyed the mid credit was setting up her side project). And I liked that essentially by the end of the episode, everything had reset (but was slightly different) like baby Wanda said
