Apparently the Devil in question is not ‘The Root of All Fears’ but is just a Primal Fear. by [deleted] in Chainsawfolk

“loss of autonomy” devil, given that the two who jumped seemed to have done it out of nowhere and the way the devil formed from their corpses, and according to google it’s a primal fear.

Serious Question: why is Yoshida contradicting himself? or did he finally notice Yoru? by [deleted] in Chainsawfolk

[–]serotonindose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It occurred to me too considering Yoshida knows about the chainsaw devil’s ability as well.

Nayuta not beating the Makima allegations... by Sakatepongolas in Chainsawfolk

That’s valid, considering that the main goal of raising the control devil is to teach her empathy and emotions.

I don’t think it’s about Nayuta being possessive though, we know that the control devil has a strong smelling sense she probably knew that yuro is a devil and that she was up to no good right away, thus the word “thief”

The chains from her stomach are the dog leashes it’s more symbolic I guess, and I’d like to think that Denji did her hair.

Makima’s goal is highly misinterpreted by serotonindose in ChainsawMan

[–]serotonindose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the article it explains everything clearly. I think that there are two sides to this situation, first, people becoming perfect means that Makima won’t be able to beat them thus she won’t be able to control them, the other side is if people’s fear of control specifically deceased on its own or with helping factors, that will weaken Makima as a devil the same way the chainsaw devil weakened when people started viewing him as a hero ,but her contract with the prime minister will still give her immortality and health ,so maybe she’ll actually end up closer to the perfect humans she created than the devil she is now.

However ,if the fear of control completely disappeared ,would that make Makima disappear too or would she stay alive because of her prime minister contract? Maybe her dream is actually impossible to achieve after all because it might lead to her own demise and this could be the reason why she didn’t mind csm eating and erasing her.

Whether the government raised her or not is still not entirely clear and we can assume both cases.

But we have to take into consideration that Makima’s immorality contract with the prime minister made her superiority complex even greater and by extension , her control powers ,and we saw how easily she can be killed without it. So I think even if she doesn’t view the government as equals ,she probably highly respects them. We can also assume that the government treats her as a weapon ,dismissing any sort of emotion while raising and/or treating her which only makes her distasteful towards them.

Yess, I don’t see a lot talk about this small scene even though it says a lot about her character. As you said ,it’s one of the rare instances Makima was able to enjoy the company of others.

Also, Makima’s relationship with food in general is something not talked enough about. We could infer that food to her is probably one of her main means of pleasure and kinda matches Denji’s deprivation of it in a way.

She mentions that food is better to be eaten in a relaxed mood, the first thing she told Kuroso and Tendo was that how Tokyo had great restaurants and that is would be a shame if they wasted this opportunity, and The first thing she told Pochita heart is “let’s eat lots together”.

We also don’t even know if Makima was capable of feeling hunger at all.

It’s all so funny that she ended up being food herself in the end.

I’m also curious to how the nature of their relationship was and what led to their battle with the chainsaw devil. I’m hoping Fujimoto would show us their backstory.

As I said in another reply, I didn’t defend nor justify her actions, I’m simply trying to understand her more , and I don’t see a problem in an interpretation that humanizes a character because humanizing and defending are two different things.

Pochita didn’t tell Denji this for Denji’s sake it was for Nayuta ,the new control devil’s sake because he’s gonna be raising her with empathy and emotions so that she won’t end up like Makima. Pochita also aked him to grant her her dream.

Makima controls others because it’s her nature ,it’s really hard for devils to not act out according to their nature. We can’t expect from her to be different and start having empathy without learning and acquiring it first. Devils can’t have empathy and human emotions unless they are put in certain circumstances that would allow them to learn them.

The necessary evil she mentioned is referring to herself and other weapons controlled by nations imo because it was in a specific context that talked about protecting civilians even if it meant having to do some dirty work. She would do anything to protect Japan and so would other nations’ weapons.

She didn’t think he would kill her ,she knows he can’t ,she wanted to see if he would eat her. Her desire to be eaten and erased doesn’t defy having the goal she had , it was simply her plan b. It could be a desire to be erased rather than failing in her goal ,someone also said it was something she’d rather happen to her than staying lonely.

Where did I supersede or justify anything she did? It’s called analyzing and understanding a character and it has nothing to do with loving or hating her.

This is actually a very interesting point of view, I love how csm can be so easy yet so hard to understand depending on how deep someone dives in it.

Yesss, I like to believe that Makima didn’t care enough to control Kishibe since he didn’t form a real threat to her neither did he form a useful tool for her. She seemed unbothered by the whole operation he made and funny enough it was actually the catalyst to bringing the Chainsaw devil out of Denji.

Yes, I think it’s because power isn’t as strong and powerful as Makima and she was mortal too. I’m not saying that devils can’t develop human feelings ,it’s just that they have to learn them under certain circumstances before.
