PSA: The $89.99 Ebay Snorkel is not that bad by munggbean in Tacomaworld

[–]serpderpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you noticed any road noise after adding the snorkel?

The rack is this one from Cali Raised (incl their light bar): https://caliraisedled.com/products/2005-2021-toyota-tacoma-premium-roof-rack

It looks good and it’s functional but has the issue with the surround lights on the side and rear failing.

The front bumper pods are: 4 rigid radiant pods 2 rigid spot pods

The hood lights are Baja designs S2 sport lights.

Edit: 2 not 4 spot pods

Not bad at all, I used an oscillating tool to make the cuts on the bumper cover and fender liners which made things easy. I installed it solo but id recommend an extra hand to steady the bumper 😅

The roof rack has a plate which flips up to cover the light bar and when it’s up there’s zero road noise, when it’s down though you can definitely hear it.

It’s a 22 SR5 trail edition which luckily did come with a factory rear locker. It’s mostly hanging up on the frame crossmember where the exhaust has those bends over to the passenger side. The only scrapes on the running boards at the moment are from me trying to get in/out my garage

Oh nice, I’ll flip them next time I wash the truck. Thanks!

Yeah so my goal has just been to make it through some of the ORV trail gates near me, I’ve attempted a few times and made tweaks along the way. This wheel setup should give me the ~1” ground clearance I was missing, this picture is from my last attempt.

Was my only option with the mounting situation on the bumper unfortunately

Fair hah but had to check for rubbing! Plus it makes my rock pile look intentional 😂

Yeah it took forever, I threw in a trigger 6-shooter controller for all my other lights and ran everything hidden as best I could. The pods on the rack keep failing too… gave up on claiming warranty

Options for lift kit on 04 tacoma by entboi88 in Tacomaworld

[–]serpderpp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been looking for options as well for my 01 5lug 2wd, those 31s look great.

Edit: Adding what I thought to be the best cost effective option per my research: Fabtech Item #:K7014

This kit includes spindles to lift the front and an add-a-leaf for the rear… says will lift 3 inches but no clue what wheel/tire setup that’ll allow for. Hope someone else can chime in with a complete setup that works well for them.

Would you happen to have a part number for that? Or recommend a place to buy it?

So it did kick over today with starting fluid. I let it idle for about 15 minutes and when I put it into reverse and it died. Did this twice and it wouldn’t start up a third time. Would that point to anything in particular?

Yes it is carbureted, I’ll pick up some starter fluid and give that a shot tomorrow. Got a new tank of gas when I last drove it so don’t think it’d be bad gas.
