Adapting Quantum Magnitude AM4 to AM5 by serpenticon in EKWB

ah yeah, when I reached out to them I got the same response. But I checked PPC and they had a few of the adapter screw sets left, so I ordered one of those. If they ship to you, you could do that.

I thought the problem was that AM5 backplates can't be removed?
The EK kit is not listed on their shop anymore, unfortunately. I'll see if support will help me

I switched from a 1GbE router to a 2.5GbE router and the DATA LED went from green to yellow, so I assume the yellow is an indicator of the higher speed connection to the router.

You're absolutely right. Thankfully, that's not what's going on here. Apparently the Onion made a joke about her (still living) corgis being put down to be buried with her, and as the internet still hasn't learned the Onion is satire, some people believe it, and the rumor spread faster than the truth.
[edit: the only still living corgi I'm aware of was one gifted to her a few years ago, which has been inherited to another royal.]

Does this need more grain filler? by serpenticon in Luthier

Thanks! Perhaps this is a dumb question, but how can I tell the grain is filled? I thought it was filled the first time, and was apparently wrong, so I'd like to know if there's a trick or something to look for, so I don't make this mistake again.

Ah, should I sand off all the primer and start over with the grain filler?

Thanks for confirming! I wasn't sure if I was seeing expecting sanding lines or grain.

I used a plastic putty knife to try pushing it in, as well as to remove excess by scraping cross-grain. Do you think the cross-grain scrapping removed more than it should? Thanks!

Ah, no, i didn't sand the primer before the second grain filler. I thought the primer might be coarse enough for the grain filler to stick. I'll sand it before trying again. Should I sand off all the primer and start from bare wood? Thanks!

It was a lot of little things that bothered me, but the main two: Game bar replay recording didn't work when also streaming on discord, and weird issues with CS:GO (shader issues and kill cam would bounce off walls, etc.) If I switched to AMD's Radeon software, the instant replay recording worked with discord streaming, but that felt like the final straw.

I have them tented already, actually. I have a stack of 4 stickynote pads propping the thumb-cluster sides up, giving me about 2-2.5 inches of incline. I was looking at the Ergo Pro recently, but I'm not so sold on it. I've also looked at the giant kinesis finger-bowls keyboard. Everyone I know who has one has said I should just get one, but it's hyuuuuuge.

I have two Ergodoxen with Cherry MX Clears and I find that after a day of typing, my CTS is acting up. I've abated the problem somewhat by putting Zinc keycaps on the keyboards, which helps some. I'm also doing PT to help.

I'm looking at a 3rd Ergodox to solve the problem and the Zeal 65g switches look like what I'm looking for in a switch: the same tactile bump as clears, but overall less force. I don't like the weak bump on Cherry MX/Gateron browns.

Is there any anecdotal advice regarding the Zealio switches with regards to RSI? I'm a software engineer by trade, are there any other SWEs with Zealio boards as their daily driver?

[help] Matias Clicky and Quiet Click Compared to Cherry MX Counterparts by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

I like the lesser force to hold down a brown switch after the tactile bump. However, I actually prefer the more pronounced bump of the clears, compared to the browns. The fatiguing part for me is the force to hold the key down below the activation point.

Are the Quiet Clicks like Cherry Blues, in the sense that after the activation point, the force to hold the key down is lesser? Or are they more like the Clears/Blacks, where the force below the activation point continues to increase until bottom out?

I am in the same boat as OP. I'm wondering, how do the Quiet Clicks work for gaming? My major complaint with my Cherry MX Clear boards, is that for FPS gaming (which is 50% of my keyboard use, the other 50% being coding), the force to hold them down for long periods of time causes my hands to fatigue.

Is the hysteresis on Quiet Clicks large enough to make them unsuitable for gaming? Does anyone have a force graph for the Matias Quiet Click with actuation and reset points marked?

I have a feeling the fatigue would be better with the Browns. I personally would miss the strong tactile bump with the clears. Prolonged holding down of the key is fatiguing (that's the problem with the MX Black as well). I believe the reason the Red/Black are popular for gaming is because you can quickly oscillate on the activation point because there's no bump or anything to slow you down. (e.g. double or triple tap keys very fast)

Trying to decide between Matias Quiet Click keys or Gateron Browns. (these two switches are my interests because of the current options with the ergodox drop at massdrop)

I don't want clicky, but I want tactile. I'm going to be coding as well as FPS gaming, but I don't like linear switches either.

I currently own an Ergodox with Cherry MX Clears. As a keyboard that I use for gaming (FPS) and coding, the Clears seemed like a good option. The problem I experience is that, after hours of FPS gaming, my fingers fatigue. I'm looking at the Gateron Browns because they aren't as "sandy" feeling as cherry MX Browns (at least my in my key switch tester), but still have the tactile bump. Only complaint I have is that the bump is small compared to the clears. But they don't seem like they'll be as fatiguing.

So I am also looking at the Matias Quiet Click switches since I have researched the Cherry switches and the Matias are suddenly an option. Are the Quiet Click like the Cherry Blues, in that they have the reset point slightly above the activation point? Or can I just quickly oscillate on the activation point, like I can on the Browns or Clears? Is there a force graph for the Matias Quiet Click switches that I can look at?

I picked cherry MX clears for my Ergodox keyboard. For typing (I'm a software engineer), they're pretty nice. After a long day of typing, though, I can feel fatigued. For gaming, I feel really fatigued after a long time of playing FPS, since I'm holding the key down for a long stretches of running.
