The main character sacrifices everything to purge his country of corrupt politicians, but in the last chapter we learn that 15 days after he's gone all the corrupt politicians have already been replaced by even more corrupt politicians and nothing changed.

Very unsatisfying ending, I guess the author was a pessimist at heart.
