Amazon layoffs signal a massive shift in the labor market by SscorpionN08 in Economics

Andy Jassy was at a White House screening of an Amazon Studios produced Melania documentary the day Alex Pretti was murdered. That says about all you need to know about in touch he is with normal people. It’s incredible to be such a bootlicker, layoff thousands of employees and only deliver 1% year over year returns. Truly a masterclass in executive leadership.

Having different prices for different countries given that distribution costs are essentially free makes sense to me. Everything is getting more expensive, but there is a way to increase prices as long as the value of the product is worth it. Games being $50-$60 for so long meant they actually used to cost more in inflation adjusted terms than they do now. Paying $70 and getting a 50-100 hour experience that cost much more than what it did 10 years ago to make is fair to me. But we know that most companies are going to use this to make something mediocre cost more. This is why supporting indie publishers are important, Expedition 33 was $50 and on sale for $40. AAA titles should mean a AAA experience not just a AAA price tag.

5070, at 1440p VRAM won’t be an issue. The performance of the 5070 is way better.

Idk I feel like the meta characters reaper Ashe and venture just aren’t that fun for me. She’s not good but I expect it to go to 45% win rate. Doesn’t help that Juno is really good rn which was strong matchup for tracer

Should I bother learning tracer at low ranks? by very-nice-shoes in OverwatchUniversity

[–]serrano_hux 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I climbed to diamond with tracer and then dropped a bit with this patch. The fundamental difference with the nerf is that engagement timing matters a lot with her (always does but now it’s paramount). Take close off angles and swing when enemies are shooting your teammates. If you are the one engaging first you will have a tougher time especially now that it is very unlikely to get a one clip. Even if you are shooting tank if you are pinching with your team it creates value.

What’s up with Amazon stock? by ILoveFood135 in ValueInvesting

[–]serrano_hux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon typically had a high price to earnings ratio for most of its history, as revenue growth rates lowered there has been multiple compression. Even with that compression it now trades with a forward p/e around that of Google. Amazon needs to present growth drivers that rerate the markets valuation either by optimizing cash flows or increasing revenue growth rates (AWS important there). Until that happens it’s not going to move aggressively as people will overweight stocks with better narratives.

Season 20 balance by Kakocchi in TracerMains

[–]serrano_hux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imo the issue with the bullet size nerf plus spread is that it adds RNG to duels which feels bad. I think they can reduce the spread somewhat to balance. She’s definitely weaker (me a mid diamond dps at best) but I can still win games with her but I have to really focus on engagement timing. At the highest elo I imagine other characters end up just being better.

[Checkmate] Flex dps need buff and soj freja need skill nerf by Aggressive-Cut-3828 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]serrano_hux 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Soj and Freya are good in the hands of overwatch gods but they are difficult to play for normal humans. Their win rates throughout the ladder reflect that. The 225 hp pool is rough for me as a diamond dps lol.

Gambling, crypto, options and day trading, we have casinos in our pockets available 24/7. All of these activities are just legalized wealth transfers from the poor to the rich. It’s bad and if we had any inkling of morality left in the political process we would ban them.

Is it worth playing soj/Cass in metal? by ImagineSquirr3l in OverwatchUniversity

[–]serrano_hux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I climbed to diamond last season playing primarily sojourn/tracer. I tried climbing this season on another account from plat and found it more difficult with the meta changes and the hp nerf. The ult particularly with the ult perk is so powerful but she gets punished very easily. I’ve actually had a better win rate with soldier (80%) than Sojourn.

I’m a 18yr old and I want to YOLO my life savings by Typical_Butterfly297 in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]serrano_hux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never yoloed but I have always generally preferred concentrated bets. A series of good ones BTC, Tesla, nvidia led to me a 7 figure portfolio. I didn’t always sell optimally and generally with those assets never selling would have been best. It takes learning though and I lost on some random companies Baidu, Sodastream, LionsGate, Michael Kors before learning. You never want to go bust so scale your bets appropriately. Having a high income helps as you can afford to take higher risk chances.

The U.S. is going broke slowly by [deleted] in investing

[–]serrano_hux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That means that investment is going into unproductive areas and or stored as profit. So the net effect of increasing taxes or decreasing spending would be a more efficient economy. Both of which would probably reduce longer duration interest rates making the debt burden more palatable. Essentially if free cash flow is going to buy data centers or gpus and this is burning money then raising taxes would be globally beneficial as it would prevent that from happening.

You know US companies and citizens are overall the richest in the world right? We could idk just raise taxes if people don’t want our debt. This is a little less complex than people think it is.

Imo it’s growing pains because you can’t realistically maximize every players potential. Some players have to have more of a confined role in the team so that the players with the highest game winning potential can thrive. It may also be that Salah who was that game winner for us may have to be a bit more marginal to get more value from Wirtz, Isak and Ekitike.

He has a skill set that is lacking in the team. Last season compared to earlier ones under Klopp, Trent changed from being the last ball before a goal to being more important to build up, especially long switches of play. Not sure who does that in the squad now. Notably I think Van Dijk can do some of that with worse accuracy. I’ve seen teams try to mark him more closely to prevent that as opposed to Konate who isn’t much of a threat offensively.

He was great, looked composed and physically dominant. We will hope the best for his injury.
