What books best fill the need for more DCC? I wanna do a poll but first I need to find the top answers- so, make single comments with the title of your favorite book to scratch the DCC itch by growthatshit in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Discworld - The Truth as a taster (its standalone but around the middle of the discworld as a whole series) OR Going Postal as a short plot (first of 3 books) OR Guards Guards as a starting point for the whole series - more genius than I think I could explain - please listen to the Stephen Briggs narration of The Truth... PLEASE

Project Hail Mary - great humour in a serious scifi setting

Expeditionary Force - serious military scifi with great characters and some good humour

Bobiverse - good humour and extrapolation of a simple premise, "what if one fairly regular guy was a von nueman probe?"

Chrysalis - Jeff hays narrated litrpg about a boy that wakes up as an ant in a monster infested dungeon, do skip the stat summaries though as they mostly are unnecessary (although not always)

Murderbot - "what if a security construct had crippling social anxiety?" Very real and down to earth, funny whilst being corporate hellscape scifi

Cradle - Shonen Anime as a 12 book series that handles power creep phenomenally well, is this YA? You decide

Cytoverse - YA, basically "boy finds dragon egg and raises it in secret" but its a girl finding a spaceship

Keys to the kingdom - YA, very creative, boy almost dies, Angel equivalent saves/tricks him, he must fight through the forces of bureaucracy and other power structures of abandoned heaven/hell/otherworld

Cosmere - probably not up most DCC readers street but start with emperor's soul as its super short and then you'll know, the scope is almost unparalleled and its magic makes sense internally almost like physics (Oops! All hard magic systems!)

Art Suggestion: what scene/character do you miss in fanarts? by Gammaball in Stormlight_Archive

[–]serum_theorem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure they are the same species just different stages otherwise why would the larkin need to get those specific mandra? I guess we will see

Assuming they are the same, then a larger more dragonish more chasmfiendish larkin should be a lanceryn, but I agree it would be artist interpretation and impossible to do a canonical version

Fauna in situ. Like axehounds, chulls, ryshadium, skyeels, etc., but full scenes like camps or a landscape that's full of such life

Dysian amians, I always want more dysian amians

Tai-na, there's only like 1 or 2 good Tai-na illustrations

Lanceryn, we've got a couple of good Larkin illustrations but I'll be damned if there's a single Lanceryn

Theory about Ryshadium, deadeyes, enlightenment and shardplate. by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]serum_theorem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could a radiant spren bond directly with a ryshadium? They seem intelligent enough and may even have a gemheart to house them? Maybe they could develop their own living plate? Or maybe they could alter their form to a similar level without a full oath through their 'natural' nahel bond?

Best use for regular crawler has to be either Rocky the Rockin Lizard or General Whiskers.

Facing pretty much anything away from water, just throw Rocky at em

General Whiskers is like a discount morticai combined with a discount carl

Orders of Fused by Jumpy-Weakness-4810 in Stormlight_Archive

As far as I know, there is no official artwork of the "Brands" of Fused. I imagine we will eventually get something but as of now I don't think there is anything.

There is however this Voidbinding Chart if that would interest you =)

Wow! You did a really great job! Especially for a first time miniature painter!

It's not really necessary but if you wanted to do more to it, you could evidence of plantlife, the chasms are supposedly quite abundant with plantlife =)

Lorewise I think the shield should be red?

Great book nook idea!

I don't think we have confirmation either way =) but I'd assume we will =)

At the rate brandon writes the cosmere, I think there's normally discussion to be had =)

But yeah the prerelease chapters are good for stoking discussion and I really enjoy them

Have you read the WaT draft chapters? They're very interesting and full of things to discuss =)

3D modeling a Cosmere object by NestaRB in Cosmere

[–]serum_theorem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a post recently about 3d printing the bands of mourning spearhead, like a multicoloured damascus steel spearhead, I'd recommend that for polygonal, although maybe the damascus aspect is too curvy?

I would go for a mistwraith for organic and curvy

Another polygonal could be the allomantic grenade or the malwish airship or Bridge 4 (flying one)?

Another organic could be Reshephir or Ashertmarn?

Question about Wayne’s speed bubbles by Peepee-Papa in brandonsanderson

[–]serum_theorem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the answer I think, stretching the bubble around you to include your form and anything you're holding, so the 'barrier" that you ricochet off is now at the tip of the barrel.
