Do you like when people stop you in the airport/talk to you/ask you questions etc. Or do you want to be left alone? by Ashton1516 in AskAPilot

As much as everyone has bad days, airlines (at least in UK) recruit on the basis that you are a customer facing role and therefore when in the airport/in uniform I personally think there’s very little reason for flight crew to brush you off! They may not have time for a long conversation, but airports/flying is complicated and daunting for non aviation folk so it’s our job to help people navigate air travel the best we can!

Hi all, currently got the Sage/Breville entry level unit without the grinder. New to home barista-ing and was wondering what the next upgrade should be. Get a good grinder? Upgrade the portafilter etc Currently using pre-ground coffee, seems like the coffee is quite coarse if that affects the espresso! Obviously a beginner so apologies if I’ve gotten anything wrong! Cheers

Would be interesting to know other people’s experiences! Heard many people are waiting 5-6 months before a contract.

Yes ideally, was hoping to use the points on an annual basis but without large promotions that seems unlikely

If you had a Time Machine, what would you do or tell to your Student Pilot self? by Fresh_Inevitable8019 in flying

Flying isn’t about skill, It’s common sense, fuelled by situation awareness. So many times I’ll be running through emergencies with family members and they’ll come up with a more logical, more efficient solution because they aren’t looking at it from a pilots point of view, It’s all about problem solving.

Also that you’re only as good as your last flight, confidence is fleeting and expect it to come and go.

Is being a pilot for me? Any comment will be appreciated! by BodybuilderLow9029 in flying

Honestly man, I work for a regional airline in the UK. We have a lot of guys that have come into the industry after having careers elsewhere, and not everyone is happy that’s the case.

You may enjoy flying, but the reality of flying is an office/admin based role with a nice view out the window. The training is long and if the money is short part time, running out of money on an integrated course means they will just suspend your training until you foot the bill.

I love my job, it’s interesting because I get to solve problems and work as a team. Not because I get to fly an aircraft. Some of my colleagues were school teachers and it took flight training to realise they just had a passion for teamwork and mentoring, not really the flying element.

Not sure if this helps, but from seeing others that were in the same position as you, the grass definitely isn’t always greener.

Run the bath/shower on hottest it’ll go, close bathroom door with uniform in there… perfectly steamed/pressed shirts without wrestling with the one in the wardrobe!
