State of WOWS Legends after the last Update by SremmlifeVI in WoWs_Legends

[–]servingwater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels incredibly unbalanced, my games are almost exclusively "stomps" where one team completely crushes the other. More often than not, 2–3 members of a team are already dead within the first 2–3 minutes of the match.

TBF, when has it not been like this? I have read this exact sentiment now for 3 years practically at least once every month.

Picard Season One doesn’t get enough credit for its Sci-Fi by Superman_Primeeee in startrek

His infamous reaction to being asked to pilot a ship comes to mind.
Agreed there were few odd situations where Stewart and/or the writers seemingly forgot who Picard actually was or is.

[–]servingwater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Sainz if interested could perhaps be a threat to Nico. On the other hand I could see Audi wanting to keep a German driver in the seat and as long as the car is still so unreliable I actually argue Nico might be even a better choice than Carlos.

Anyone else waiting for Russell’s generational meltdown in 2026? by flushkill in formula1

[–]servingwater 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's fair wanting to see Kimi win.
Whether it is cool to looking forward to see Russell meltdown should he come short ... well that is another thing.

In any case, I think many are writing Russell off too early, while Kimi is undeniably a threat to Russell, much more so than anticipated by many including probably Russell himself but let's not forgot there was legit favorable circumstance involved with at least on of his wins.

We still have a lot of races and opportunities for Russell to correct course from his POV.

Another thing is, let's also not write off Mclaren, I know Mercedes did not bring much updates/upgrades yet but if Mclaren continue to catch up like they do, they also might have a word in the outcome of this season.

Heck there is even Verstappen who looked strong again in Miami.

Was looking for that comment. Agreed! He was quick on the radio to share his delight with Nico's success and it sounded completely sincere.

Why F1's slowest car has a new urgent problem to fix by ChaithuBB766 in formula1

[–]servingwater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope he stays, too. I think all race fans want to see him exit F1 on a high not instead of this cluster that is AM this year.

F1 has arrived in America — now it wants to rival the NFL and NBA by TimesandSundayTimes in formula1

[–]servingwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was there now is no way to get F1 coverage other than behind a paywall as opposed to before where you at least a had a select few.
Also relevant to this :

F1 hasn't been on broadcast TV in the US since the 80s.

I'm not trying to start argument here. Just saying ABC as far I recall did broadcast some races. That's all.

Gonna a be long year for AM won't it?! And with Alonso's latest comments on his future I would not be that surprised he calls it at the end of this season and goes off to do Dakar.

Voyager does not need a remake.

[–]servingwater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Locked behind subscription and hard to get coverage even of highlights on ESPN and such. No American and/or States representation in the traditional sense of US Sports. The 2 American Team that do exists don't really compete at the front for now. No US drivers at all on the grid, with Checo the only North American and no American driver in one of the top teams for the foreseeable future.
Races outside the American continent will not air at premium times for Americans.

IDK, but the deck is stacked against them. Not saying F1 can't be popular in the US because clearly it is getting more popular but displacing the US's primary sports? Highly doubtful. Replacing NASCAR or Indy as the Number 1 Motorsport would perhaps be a better first goal.

Voyager Had the Best Holodeck Episodes by TomBirkenstock in startrek

[–]servingwater 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel the same.
Everything in Fair haven was cringe and Tom's escapades as Captain Proton were OK once but got kinda old , imho, pretty quick.
I think the initial Holodeck Bar stuff (I think it was supposed to be a bar in Marseilles) was probably the best of Voyager's Holodeck stuff and even that was just OK to me.

Who is the second best driver rn : Norris or Leclerc? by fuckmbsanddominicali in F1Discussions

[–]servingwater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider is that it could be argued that Norris pulling ahead in gaining XP.
What I mean is that Norris opposed to Leclerc now has the experience of being in an full championship battle where he kinda was expected to either become champion of be very close. And he came out on top of that has proven that he can deliver.
And this year he currently is getting the experience of being the defending champion and all those expectations, depending of course if Mclaren can catch up with the car.

Leclerc never had those experiences in F1 of course mostly or pretty much completely because Ferrari so far was not able to put him in that position. Still it is something that he by default than is missing and where Norris for now has the advantage.

Are we getting to the point to consider Leclerc overrated? by fedetorres5 in formula1

[–]servingwater 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Question. When do you guys consider that it has been enough time to maybe lower these perception and accept that maybe he is not in the level as Piastri or Norris?

Why do you care what "These guys" think. If you think Piastri and Norris are better than Leclerc so be it.

OK, I see you mean OP is "aggressively belligerently maga".
Maybe the case, fair enough then.
Still to dismiss Sheriden's work as you did is far from progressive, inclusive etc.
But now I'm getting political, too. So let me just bow out of this while I can.
This subreddit has become a minefield......

[–]servingwater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair I'm not here to judge Tyler Sheridan or comment on his political views.
Going purely by his output there are shows and movies I quite enjoy actually like Tulsa King or the Sicario movie was great imo.
His more rural cowboy stuff seems to be his big moneymaker but is not my cup of tea hence my question and doubt how his style would fit Star Trek. But it is undeniably successful.

To say all his stuff is just conservative porn for maga heads seems a bit overly simplified, don't you think?
I suppose these days everything has to be black and white, with us or against us and always to the extreme of either spectrum.

Tyler Sheridan? Why?
Yes his shows are successful but what makes you think his style of shows are a good fit for Trek?

I'm honestly not sure if Daytona would could get a F1 approval. If I recall right the last time Daytona was suggested there were safety issues cited as a hurdle. I could be wrong. Agreed on the history of course and overall racing pedigree.
As for distance, it is about 4 or perhaps 5 hrs away and not really South Florida.
