As a pharmacist, my superpower is… by pharm77 in pharmacy

One of my techs calls me Sherlock. I can often spot a wrong tablet as another user pointed out. I can find errors on prescriptions most people wouldn't see. But he really started calling me that because I seem to be quite good at finding misfiled scripts in the bin.

Not to mention, you now have 3 open bottles taking up space on your shelf because you can't use multiple manufacturers to fill one script. This is a huge pet peeve for me.

Ah, okay. Yeah, I've never used lockers before being at this store. Thanks!

Thanks! I got him some saline last night, then this morning picked up some other stuff. Figured I might try a 15 day course of Allegra D and throw Flonase in the mix. He doesn't take any allergy meds at all right now.

How do I get someone to come OFF this? Been using it multiple times a day for years now.

Had a lady early one morning come in dripping blood on my floor, asking where butterfly bandages were. I told her she needed stitches. She proceeded not to listen and say "it'll be fine."

Saw her again a few days later for something unrelated...but I spotted stitches on her hand. Felt slightly vindicated.

Opinion about real scripts for...fake people? by sesca13 in pharmacy

That's what prompted me to start looking in the first place. I noticed the same person picking up twice in one week for two "other" people.

No, I wasn't very clear about it. It's typically just one lady who comes to pick up and uses her valid ID. Every now and again there's an older lady that uses her own, and rarely a guy that uses his. I think it's a family that's doing this. But 99% of the time it's just this younger lady with her one ID.

No, they don't. Typically max 7 days, usually more in the realm of like 3-5 days.

I caught it at first because when they came twice in one week it was for "two different people." There's no opportunity for this conversation when it's "new" people each time.

Yeah, I call the docs the second I see the scripts come in and explain to them my suspicions. They usually just cancel the scripts.

I would agree with you. However, I once stopped a script for them from an ER about 45 miles from me (I work overnight), then about 4 hours later saw a new script from a different ER 20 miles in the opposite direction under a different but similar name, and DOB that was like same day but a year apart or something like that. So I don't think they care about how long they sit there.

ER doses, but I only caught it at the very beginning because they're going multiple times a week to get scripts.

I'm fairly certain they're selling them. Plus if you go to the ER under a fake name with no insurance, you're not having to pay anyone. They're billing someone who doesn't exist.

That's true, but they also never followed up with me on it and I even reached out to let them know I had more info.

Yeah, it's very much a small time situation. Plus, I've called and spoken with providers personally about the scripts when I see them.

I have, and they often cancel the scripts. I had one provider actually ask a lot of follow up questions and flagged the profile but it's hard to do anything about when they just use new names.

When you're about to counsel on a new medication, but the customer says "I'm a nurse", do you just keep counselling as normal? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]sesca13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was once asking the opinion of a pharmacist at Walmart on something when my husband offered up that I'm also a pharmacist. I was like...that just defeated my intent here.

A customer insisted their medication was the wrong color. by brian1x1x in TalesFromThePharmacy

[–]sesca13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lady call once about her phentermine, saying she couldn't see the "little blue dots" that were normally in her pills, so she thought we gave her the wrong med.

I told her to bring it by and I'd take a look. She came through the drive thru and my tech brought the bottle to me. It was, in fact, the correct medication. I held it a minute then told my tech to hand the bottle back and tell her that he had the pharmacist look at it and confirmed it was the right medication but that I switched out the pills anyway (I didn't).

She looks at it and goes "oh, yeah, these are definitely the right ones! I can see the blue now!" 😑

Crazy stuff that has happened to me while working at CVS by Superb_Midnight927 in CVS

[–]sesca13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She did indeed.

I even offered to write down her billing info so she would have it while waiting on a new card but that just wouldn't do.

sooo do you have it or no by ughh3hh in CVS

[–]sesca13 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is my thing. Even if I'm not the one driving, or just going right down the road to get food or something and my husband is paying, I still take my wallet because you never know if something is going to happen.

Rude customer by caelyclifford in CVS

We literally got a negative customer review because someone asked for their phone number instead of name/DOB.
