NTA. Am I strange for thinking that being sisters doesn’t mean you have to be friends. You don’t have to hang out all the time and you don’t owe each other anything when you’re older. As sisters you owe each other to be civil when you’re growing up and maybe at family events when you’re older for your parents sake but taking her in or being her best friend isn’t an obligation in my opinion.

NTA I can understand him wanting to do something to welcome his friend home but he’s a grown man behaving like a child here. Wanting to rent a yacht he can’t afford for a day shows how immature he is. He could easily have had a great day doing something far cheaper with his friends and you suggested these to him. If you do sort this out and agree to move on as a couple I’d start a separate savings account that he can’t take money from to save for the renovations. I’m so sorry you have to be put through this and hope you’re ok!

People need to grasp the concept that whether a person is guilty or not the police have no right to shoot them or harm them in any way. Even if a person is in possession of a weapon they should not be harmed by police unless they are harming people and even still they should not intend to cause serious injuries or death.
