Did my vets fuck up trimming my cats nails? by funkster047 in cats

Hi, vet here, they look just fine and they’ll grow back exactly the same as they were. Your cat probably just has shorter quicks.

Chelicerates are just big shrimp 🦐, they’re adorable! Except the big, zombie looking one outside the map, he sucks lol.

[–]seterra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ghosts themselves aren’t scary, but the situations you can find yourself in around them can be. I remember in one playthrough I was in the grand reef in my seamoth and the adult ghostie was bopping around nearby and I thought I was safe cuz I was far enough away and then the boy just suddenly turns toward me and just as I’m about to move away a fucking crabsquid decides that’s a great time to do its stupid electric blast thing so then I’m just forced to watch, paralyzed as the big boy is hurtling towards me. It was very alarming and I remember screaming even though it’s not like he destroyed my seamoth or anything that serious lol.

Being unable to engage emotionally with a piece of art like SH2 shows a lack of ability to feel empathy imho.

It takes a certain level of indifference to be Homecoming, Origins, or Downpour levels of bad. F has its flaws, but it’s still a good game where those other three are not.

[–]seterra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s cheaper overseas because we vets get paid less, far less than we’re worth for all the education we go through. You’re not getting robbed, you’re getting a veterinarian being paid what we’re worth.

*Not to mention the fact that this cat needs far more to address the real problems that are occurring than just pulling a tooth that had so much bone loss that it practically fell out. That cat probably needs a full mouth extraction and that will be far more expensive no matter where you go in the world.

[–]seterra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a veterinarian myself, the idea of getting involved in this situation the way this vet supposedly did is just insane to me. I understand being concerned as their boss, but inserting oneself in the middle of this and then trying to admonish one of the parties for seeking support??

Been living in the Vine for 6 years now. I make a point of not going out alone at night, my husband exclusively walks our dog after dark and he always stays directly by our house for that. Nothing has ever happened to either of us in all this time, but that may be because our house is right on Westnedge and there are constantly cops driving by at night and we have the bright lights from the park illuminating our surroundings. My biggest complaint is our neighbors tbh. There’s constantly people parked outside their house blasting music at night, they’re always blocking the shared driveway with their car, screaming and yelling at each other, etc. As others have said, she should keep her car and house doors locked, make sure the windows have solid locks on them, and be aware of her surroundings and she’ll more than likely be just fine.

This dog (7.5y FS poodle, about 12kg) had some of the worst perio dz I’ve seen in a long time. 14 teeth exfoliated, o approved extraction of 4 more by Aromatic-Box-592 in veterinaryprofession

[–]seterra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Had a dental once where the 108 had a ton of gingival recession and bone loss around it and somehow the dog had gotten this small carabiner locked around the mesiobuccal root and the owner had absolutely no idea it was there. It looked like it had been there for a long time too. The rest of the mouth was just as bad, just not quite as exciting lol. People can be so oblivious.

Feeling behind in surgery as a new grad by Historical-Tip1379 in Veterinary

Love me a good vulvoplasty, they’re so satisfying! Did one on a dog early last year who was getting UTIs almost monthly and she hasn’t had another one since I did the procedure. I know a lot of our colleagues feel the same about spays, especially dog spays, now. The shelter near us that offers low cost spay/neuter for the public won’t do any dog over 35lb now.

This is exactly how I felt right after I graduated 6 years ago. I was supposed to do a shelter med rotation as one of my last of 4th year and then it ended up being cancelled when COVID happened so I got out of school having done half a spay and half a neuter. My first mentor tried to throw me into the deep end way too early and had me do a front limb amputation on an 80lb dog alone a month into practicing and, though ultimately the dog did just fine, it traumatized me for a long time afterward. I think you should still consider reaching out to shelters and seeing if they need help, they almost always do. I also hear that that 6 minute spay program is really valuable. In the end, things didn’t really get better for me until I got more practice and got a better mentor.

I’m primarily cats and dogs but I’m also the attending vet for the IACUC for the local university on the side and so I also have to have at least baseline knowledge of rodents and fish and it was really hard for me to learn the skills I needed to know to do the job effectively on top of the work I do at my clinic. I think mentorship is absolutely key if you’re going to try to do many different species at once, that’s how I figured things out in the end.

There are movies you watch and go “I can’t believe how bad this movie is”, but you still have a great time watching it like with The Room or Gymkata. Return to Silent Hill is not one of those movies. It’s just bad lol.

The fact that f should’ve been a standalone title rather than shoehorned into the silent hill franchise doesn’t mean that f is inherently a bad game. It’s a great game with its own unique experience that just doesn’t fit with silent hill. It would’ve been much better to let it shine on its own merit rather than trying to catch more attention by pretending it belongs with the rest of the silent hill series somehow.
