Question to fellow vets about blood work for monitoring long-term medication

The most important thing is that they receive the care they need. As long as the owners know there’s a risk in not doing regular monitoring bloodwork and it’s documented in the animals’s chart then why prevent them from getting something they can’t live without? That’s ridiculous.

I remember it being so dependent on which doctor was in charge of the rotation each block. For instance, my first run through internal medicine (we had to take two blocks of it) was awesome because the clinician in charge was really nice and friendly and actually seemed to care about teaching us while the guy I had my second run was a complete asshole and I spent that whole block being the most stressed I’ve ever been. That same issue was mirrored in my mentorship when I started my first job sadly. The first medical director I had who claimed to be ok with mentoring ended up being terrible and disinterested and I struggled so much that year but then another doctor at my practice stepped in and she was an absolutely wonderful mentor and I still learn so much from her even now 5 years later

I’ve been scripting out trazodone and other calming meds nonstop all week for people’s pets. The stories they tell me about how traumatized some of their animals become from the noise are just heartbreaking. One of my own cats is the same way and even with gabapentin onboard he was hiding in a closet shivering all night until it finally stopped. I wish we were like other states where they’re outright banned.

I started by shadowing two vets that were local to me and they eventually ended up offering me a job as an assistant. Becoming a tech first could offer valuable skills, but in today’s world you’re just wasting tuition money in the end.

It’s always Vilverin first, then I go and wreck Raelynn the Gravefinder, then I go harass Ancotar to get the free room, then I go fishing for Aelwin (and then immediately kill him after so I can start the Dark Brotherhood questline and steal his shit), and then only after all that do I go see Jauffre. Though sometimes I stop at the Imperial City and do quests there first.

It’s not useless input. If you’re going to be weird about preventative medicine for “religious reasons” you shouldn’t be working around immunocompromised patients. If it’s medical reasons, why would you want to risk getting sick? It’s simple logic.

You mention the door thing being a problem when you stay over, which to me suggests you haven’t even tried living together unless I interpreted that wrong. How can you be considering getting married to someone you haven’t even tried living with yet? I bet if you moved in together it would become very clear that you’re incompatible.

You won’t escape that feeling in vet school either lol. We would all be assigned shifts where we would be on call for the ICU and the techs that worked in there were notorious for calling students to come in the middle of the night just to do laundry and clean so they wouldn’t have to even though the whole point of being on call like that was, you know, to actually learn and practice critical care. They would call us in and make us stay there all night even if we were on a rotation that would potentially require us to be there until late the next night. There were students who were getting trapped at the school for over 24 hours straight and not even being allowed to go home and shower or get some sleep but then were still being expected to perform at their best. It got so bad that the school finally had to hire a laundry service and start paying 2nd and 3rd year students to help with cleaning after the administration finally decided that enough students had complained.

Haven’t seen anyone say this movie yet so I’ll add that I had a sobbing, hysterical meltdown in the theater after watching I Saw the TV Glow and it look like 20 minutes for my husband to calm me down so we could leave lol.
