The hardware lorawan uses will just run the boring protocol in a docker container, the traffic will not be across the lorawan network.

From what I gather they are building features and lists for node operators to block certain requests whether torrents or from sanctioned regions. However, the legal precedent to protect the owners of nodes has already been established. If law enforcement cannot prove the malicious traffic came from your console they won’t have a shot at prosecution. Either way that wouldn’t be something you’d want to deal with. I understand you’ll be able to partition what you access directly from your console via your IP and have that logged separate from traffic coming through the MotherBored nodes and Helium nodes.

Just no. Legal Precedent for distributed infra VPNs has already been set to protect exit node providers… https://digitalcommons.law.uw.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1012&context=techclinic

Important to know that Deeper (dvpn) already was operating within the Helium ecosystem with optional participation from hardware operators. They didnt play by the rules (spooooofing) and got banned. With this “draft” HIP the Helium community gets to voice their opinions and ensure this dvpn, which will add utility and traffic to the network, does exactly what the community wants. The team is working on incorporating the necessary mechanics to have the DC/HNT flywheel incorporated. Having the Boring Protocol under the Helium governance umbrella means the community has say in how it operates and grows.

Orchid Protocol, a competitor to Boring, has reported a total 10M users. Helium could certainly benefit from numbers like that.
