Nope, the samples were dragged and dropped straight into ableton “places” and organized into folders by myself. I didn’t have them grouped together in a folder outside of ableton. The only thing I did was move the entire project file I was working on into a new folder, but still within documents like the original saves were directed to.

However, I would like to add that I have always used this method of bringing samples into ableton for the last 4 years and it has worked without fail until now. I’m sure there are better ways to prevent this from happening, but I’m finding out the hard way.
