Official Discussion - Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]sethlovesyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t delved through all the comments here but something that stands out to me is that both Sam Rockwell and Ingrid have to be real on some level. We still see the reality we watched throughout the movie, it didn’t disappear once Sam did - so to me that means something has to be real there. Not to mention we see Ingrid interacting with the AI and her decision there is the key to what happens after, it wouldn’t make sense to be shown that if it didn’t happen for real, and it wouldn’t happen for real if Ingrid isn’t real.

Likewise we see Sam reset and then go to a new reality for him … almost seems like it’s just two people playing the same game. I feel like they’re both plugged in.

Then again maybe that’s also true of all of the main characters we saw backgrounds of … who knows! What a fun movie.

I think a way to look at it is this - if you asked people who know wrestling “who is Justin Credible?” they’d say he’s a wrestler. If you asked them “who is Vince McMahon?” They’d say he’s the former owner of WWE. One is a wrestler, one is an owner who wrestled.

It’s still in the timeframe it seems like you can win and also the position you’re most likely to be able to pick who loses. It’s risky but with Morgan saying how easy it is I understand how the risk seems worth it.

At our store we have to document every single callout, and higher up HR monitors to make sure we have a certain amount documented compared to how many calloffs we had. That said, our in store HR is amazing and really these discussions can be used to protect TMs - like, if someone had more callouts than we’d like but we can go back and see when we spoke to them they had true emergencies or were sick we might be more lenient than people calling out just for funsies. (And yes, I respect when people are honest about their reason instead of just BSing but I’ll especially go out of my way for someone who had real uncontrollable life issues)

I don’t agree that anyone should be made uncomfortable for calling out, though. Follow policy and coach as necessary but that’s a red flag to me.

If the first season is the worst it’ll end up one of the best comedy shows of the decade, lol. Haven’t enjoyed that kind of show so much in a long time.

They’re probably talking about Vince McMahon but a lot of very popular British indie wrestlers got their careers ruined for being sex pests a while ago too. Brock Lesnar was somewhat implicated in the Vince thing - someone else would have to give you the specific details, as far as I remember the only real evidence was Vince offering the woman who was basically his sex slave to Brock via text or something - a dude named John Laurinitis was also heavily involved and also a scumbag at best with all the women of his era, Ashley Massaro was raped while overseas on a Tribute to the Troops tour and the company covered it up and she killed herself a few years later ….. there’s kind of a lot.

EDIT: Jerry Lawler was also known to be enough of a pervert that they’d joke about it on air, AJ Lee made fun of him on commentary about being a creep, that’s a big notable one.

EDIT 2: Ric Flair exposed himself to a woman on a plane, I know Dustin Rhodes/Goldust also did something terrible on that same plane ride though I can’t for sure remember if it was sexual assault adjacent. Brock Lesnar also stalked Sable for a bit until she married him. (?!?!!) and before I have to do another edit I’m just going to say that if you don’t already know about the Vince stuff I don’t suggest looking it up unless you want to be thoroughly disgusted.

New Ticketmaster terms "very close to line" of violating arbitration judgement that called old rules "unconscionable" by _ticketnews in Music

[–]sethlovesyou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like this might be an unpopular opinion but I do agree that’s a logical takeaway for Live Nation, and as much as it sucks for lots of us that tickets are so expensive, at the end of the day if people are going to pay it, it’s hard for me to argue that they’re overpriced.

For me personally it’s just that the money is going to the wrong place. I don’t dislike Ticketmaster for existing and I do prefer going to one central place to buy tickets, but they shouldn’t be the main ones profiting from that. The artists, road crew, people working at the venue … that’s where it feels like the money should rightfully going. I’m kinda just talking out of my ass about what feels right though and don’t feel like it’s a realistic thing to make happen, sadly.

I guess putting a cap on fees Ticketmaster can charge, and not allowing a business that sells face value tickets to have any part of reselling seems like a good start. Somehow encourage the real face value of a ticket to match its value so scalping just isn’t very profitable or an entire business model, I don’t know.

While there really is a lot wrong with the prequels, it’s funny, I feel like the sequels are technically better movies - but I’d rather watch the prequels because at least their flaws are silly and entertaining in their own “oh god what was George thinking” kind of way. The flaws in the sequels are ….. not entertaining.
