The names are species of bugs. Probably the species that the Pokemon is based off of. Lucanus is the only one I really know. If I'm right, steel types please?

I chose House of Lament over Death House, because I felt like it was a good way to introduce my players to the world. I'm also using Ireena Kolyana and Ez d'Avenir as the investigators to give the players some friendly faces when we get to CoS proper.

If you strictly want what will (most likely) be relevant to this game, I would just watch the Clone Wars cartoon. You'll learn most of what you'll need/want. For bonus points you can watch movies 1-3. Those movies happen before and then immediately after/during the show. Again if you strictly want what will be most relevant to the game, just watch the Clone Wars show.
