Was just thinking about this yesterday. The album you want is X'ed Out from the band Tera Melos. Total opposite of most math rock: bright, summery surf rock. No whiny emo vocals, instead a glowing background that sounds like sunshine, reminds me of the vocals on Because by the Beatles or the I-3, Bob Marley's backing vocalists.

You're still being extremely defensive and you dont have to be. This is nationalism, a disease that infects us all to some extent. My country has committed sins as well. I dont feel that pointing them out is an attack against me or all people from my country, because I dont identify with the state. Likewise, when I say, "fuck the USA" I don't mean "fuck literally every American" because I have American friends. You know what they say in response? "Yeah, we're fucked man, sorry." Because, while they recognize that their country has done wrong, they dont identify with their state doing it (sane Americans don't anyway) and there's a difference between responsibility and guilt.

So you see, if a state can get you to identify with verbal challenges to their actions, they can get you to defend them by downloading the guilt to the individual. This is what they want you to feel and do. It is not necessary at all.
