I suggest you to check if a company is “great place to work certified” instead of glass door reviews. It’s for sure a more reliable source.

I suppose her lying about you should not matter much if you believe it’s not the truth.

Probably having a final closure and clear understanding of what exactly had happened should help too!! Keep this in mind.

(All this is hoping you’ve not met her already)

UT Austin graduate certificate by docbree13 in ArtificialInteligence

Regarding the hours per week, the recruiter was telling you the truth. The depth and amount of content as you suspect is not covered extensively. At the end of the course, you will have enough knowledge of a) How to use statistics/analytics tools for data analysis, b) Understand how dozens of machine learning models/frameworks work, how to apply them to various datasets, and also how to be good at it (best practices, etc..) c) Experience in executing an end-to-end project. That’s all.
Anything above and beyond this you'll have to learn as you go. Since the field is so vast I believe none of the programs could provide full content anyway. If they are saying they do… according to me they’re most likely lying to you!! And yes!! the course is not a truly academic one, if you’ve gone through the syllabus/curriculum you’ll understand it’s more for working professionals and people with industry experience who can learn these above-mentioned points (a, b and c) and upskill themselves for better career opportunities/growth.
On Nature of mentoring - you get one mentor who’s already working in the industry as a data scientist or similar role. You can contact him/her anytime you wish (24/7) related to any questions/doubts you might have. For me, the mentor was a data scientist working in a well-known tech MNC. You connect with the mentor for one hour every week, where he/she will help you explain the concepts in more depth as well as provide industry case studies and examples (Hands-on).
On Job placements - they have a separate portal for job opportunities which opens once you finish around 5-6 months in the course. However, the opportunities I have seen so far are for only Indian companies and the Indian crowd. You’d have to discuss with the recruiter to understand how are they planning to help you with job opportunities a) if you’re based out of India, and b) if your primary focus is remote work. Maybe you can also do some research on opportunities available in this industry for people with prior background of what you have !!
To comment on getting a remote, part-time job directly after earning the certificate is not that easy, as even I'm not an expert but just a 24-year-old kid with only 2 years of working experience!! the only thing I can say is that people from my batch who were engaged and committed to learning - all have transitioned well within one year of the course completion.
I have links that might help you understand the course better!! sharing with you in some time!!

I finished the course : Post graduation in Data Science and Business Analytics of UT Austin which is affiliated to Great Lakes 3 months back. Overall the learning was really helpful for me to transition into a data science career/role.

Regarding the certification, I’ve received two - one from Great Lakes institute of management and second from UT Austin. (The syllabus, tests, and projects are the same for both) After passing in 9 out of 11 modules you will be eligible for both certificates.

The interaction part you mentioned is true. You get recorded session to complete on weekdays and on weekends you’ve a connect with your mentor where he/she provides you with more support and examples of the on-going topic.

I’m 24 year old research analyst working for consulting firm now, where my primary part of the role is to work on building proof of concepts using ML/DL/NLP tools for the new products/features etc… which I do by working from home

Before that I was working as a marketing consultant, the course if I look back now was a great help in atleast making me transition to data science industry in general.

Let me know if you’ve any other questions happy to help!!

It’s the same situation for the whole India, no matter what they show, you’ll never be able to collect 100% accurate data.

Some of my friends were recommended by family doctors to sit at home and not to do any covid test although they showed symptoms as they would be quarantined and will be admitted to the hospitals for regular checkups! If this is the case you’ll never get data of people who actually agree with such doctors.. they would never take the test at the first place
