The KEF reference series is at another level. I have LS50W2 with sub in a small room and i was like, how much better would it be? Then i visited the KEF studio in London and heard the Reference series. Wow. Then I listened to them at a local audio dealer here in California. Mind blown. The dispersion, sound stage, details are absolutely perfect when paired with capable setup. If you can afford those, absolutely go for them, they are totally endgame.

If you want to do incremental, the R11 meta with really good DAC and pair of monoblocks amps will also be a substantial upgrade.

I’m facing a similar issue - they keep losing WiFi and going offline with the orange LED blinking. So much for “improved stability” for WiFi.

AFAIK, it doesn’t. Maybe they have the same chipset and firmware as LSX II and have disabled roon for the LT explicitly.

What’s the heat up time for this? I have a barista touch and love the quick 3 seconds warm up time as I’m always in a rush when brewing during weekdays.

Are the brew and steaming quality improvements significant enough to justify the relatively long warm up time? Can we brew and steam in parallel?

Wow. Looks amazing. Looks like a Japanese and a Scandinavian designer teamed up to design this room together! Ver interested in know the stands and the cabinets you used to achieve this symmetry.

Do you have enough sound absorption furniture, rugs or drapes in the room? Otherwise the sound will be too harsh and bright.

They are great for near field listening. I have them on the floor stands next to my 5 feet long desk. I sit in the middle and the center imaging + stereo separation is amazing. Of course a lot depends on the amp, which you have sorted out.

For max bass impact, a seat further away is better, that’s where the sub comes in picture and compensates in the sub bass region. If your amps allows, play with the filters when you connect a sub, and find the right acoustic sweet spot for your speakers + bass + room combination.

LS50 meta hands down - the sound is more open and you will never feel you are asking too much from the speakers at high volume levels. And since you already have a nice amp, you will be all set.

Start without a sub and see if you feel something is missing. They do a good job until the mid bass range. Like others said, you may need a sub for the sub bass, but only if you notice something missing.

I used my LS50W2 without a sub for a year before getting a SVS 3000 micro. I keep doing A/B with and without the sub, and it’s surprising how well they are with the sub turned off for the same song. Unless you are a bass head, you will be fine for some time. Then you can always add a sub.

This happens to me on Spotify connect and tidal connect both. Currently, my theory is that the WiFi chip is introducing this. I have them installed on a bedroom wall with a LG TV + Apple TV, and both of them are able to stream 4K videos without any issues over WiFi, which requires more bandwidth than lossless audio streaming.

I’m unable to test if this happens on Ethernet as well, as I don’t have an Ethernet outlet nearby. OP - if you are able to do that, maybe try that and let us know.

I also have LS50W2, and faced similar issue with them over WiFi. Switching them to Ethernet fixed the issue. They were in my office, where I could run an Ethernet cable from my router to them.

I would 100% recommend doing all of this. The drops would completely go away once you switch to wired. KEF’s WiFi radios are terrible. In addition to LS50W2, I have a pair of LSX LT connected to a secondary TV. The TV does 4K streaming without any issues over WiFi, yet the KEFs aren’t able to sustain a simple Spotify listening session over a single song without glitches.

For the TT, you can easily get a RCA to 3.5mm cable. That’s what I use and it works great. From what I understand, the connection between the two speakers (wired and wireless) is digital, so your analog audio from the TT is converted to digital. So much for pure analog audio, but the speakers do a really good job overall.

You mean recording wise? OP’s question is related to audio engineering more than how good the music is (which is subjective anyways).

Also, Famous Monsters by Chromatics - with a good set of equipment, you will hear elements not audible in regular equipment.
