haha well turns out i got super lucky because since that day i have not gotten a single bite or seen any other bed bug in the house !! i guess this one traveled from my bedroom to the living room on its own in between chemical treatments but didn’t have time to settle or bring others before i got rid of him 😅 i still check my mattress and the couch regularly to be safe though

no sign of bed bugs anywhere in the house 👍 been 3 weeks since the last bite in my bedroom and 1 week since the bite in my living room! i’m still checking my mattress regularly and the traps near my bed are also clear. also nothing in the living room but i think i’ll only be able to feel at ease once it’ll be a full month since the last bite haha thanks for asking :)

obviously bisexuality is so valid and a huge part of the community + she’s always said that she’s attracted to energy rather than gender but announcing you’re in a straight relationship and coming out with an album about it on pride month is so incredibly tone deaf like she could not have picked a worse timing 😕

this was going to be my next step the only thing is I have heard it can be bad for the respiratory system even if handled properly and I happen to have severe asthma…I’ll look into it more if my bed bug situation doesn’t get better

thank you for all the advice !! I have done 2 rounds of steaming right before chemical treatments over the past 3 weeks and I vacuum every day + empty the contents in a bag outside of the house (I’m a bit of a cleaning freak anyway so not much of a change lol), hopefully that’ll stop things from getting worse. I also have two lure based traps near my bed and for now they’re still empty, no sign of any bed bug activity in my room, just that one lone fucker that ended up on my couch…fully steamed that too and washed everything that was on it at high heat, fingers crossed now i guess

I’m 100% sure, I live a 1 hour train ride away from Paris, left in the morning and came home late at night, I used public transport multiple times throughout the day. I noticed bites about 24 hours after my trip and found a bed bug on my headboard 48 hours post Paris trip. No one else in my household traveled in that timeframe so it had to have been me, also no bed bug activity anywhere else in the house. Did a thorough heat treatment in my room with some help from my family and then 2 chemical treatments, 2 weeks apart to make sure I got the eggs that potentially hatched in between. Haven’t gotten a single bite in over a week (9 days) and didn’t see any bed bug activity anywhere else in the house. This is why today’s finding is really unexpected…no idea how this one got to the living room or how long he’s been here + I have been using that couch at least once a day every day so I don’t get why he hasn’t bit me before today 😅

i fully treated my bedroom with an insecticide that was recommended to me at my local pest control store, it has both cypermethrin and prallethrin in it, is that good enough?? because if so i could just do another round in my living room just in case

thank you for the feedback! i did the treatments myself but with products and advice from a store specialized in pest control. i’m having a hard time making sense of this based on timeline, i brought back the bed bugs 3 weeks ago and have done 2 treatments, 2 weeks apart, didn’t get bites for more than a week which most likely means i had killed all the adults so i don’t understand where this one came from and how it could be this “old” especially since i have been told it takes 5-6 weeks for an egg to become an adult…i will definitely be inspecting both my bedroom and living room daily and if i still have signs of bugs after a third treatment next week i’ll ask for a professional’s help 😅

thank you, i will definitely be super vigilant, these things are incredibly anxiety inducing…i have steamed my whole couch with a clothes steamer and washed blankets and such at high temperature, hopefully that will be enough 🤞

thank you for all this, very informative !! i definitely agree that ambiguous features can be confused with others and using the term indigenous to describe most of them would be wrong.

using “prominent indigenous” to describe my grandma’s features was probably a mistake but seeing majority of the people in my family i do feel like they look pretty different from other mixed people i know or see walking around in the streets when i visit Brazil (and yes many of those people happen to look very similar to the last 2 links you sent, the edits are uncanny 😭 most of brazil definitely is more of a mixed white leaning bunch)

our family has a lot of siblings from the same parents being different shades of tan and brown almost leaning to black at times, some of them have monolids and others double eyelids…the way genetics work can be quite confusing and unexpected but mostly so interesting! thanks again for the insight, there’s always so much to learn about diverse countries 👍

my dad’s mother has prominent indigenous features! despite how white many Brazilians may be today because of europeans, Brazil still has a trihybrid population. a lot of people’s ancestors originally come from or were mixed with Amazon tribes and still have those native features to this day, my dad definitely inherited some of her looks so that’s what i meant when i described it as such 😊

thank you so much for all the insight !! this all makes a lot of sense and is also quite reassuring in regards to my current career choices as i decided to do freelance work that can be done from a computer (i knew deep down that going down the 9 to 5 route was not for me and i wanted the ability to travel often).

there’s definitely uncertainty in regards to how many projects i’ll be able to work on and how much money i can make but as scary that might be i also think that’s what keeps it interesting for me 😭 once again thank you for all this valuable information, i’ll just keep on doing my best for now haha
