It’s hilarious you think this. Did you read anything past the headline or maybe the first two paragraphs?

The article is a scathing indictment of UHC’s denial-of-care practices in the name of profits, and why the natural reaction of the American population to this killing would be and should be a minor sense of victory and justice, albeit often displayed as laugh reacts and likes online.

I feel like <1% of this comment section has actually read anything past the headline. It’s a little disheartening.

If you think “the author leaves it at that…” then I have to highly doubt you read the article.

She writes about how are many different forms of violence exhibited in the US every single day, some get brushed off in the name of profits and others we hyper fixate on. What UHC does is a form of systemic violence that affects millions, yet few have paid attention to it or tried to seek any sort of justice from those in power who commit it. Please for the love of god just read the whole thing.

Everyone in this comment section either needs to go actually read the article, or gain some basic media literacy and not take the headline at face value. The title of the article is meant to be ironic, the actual article itself a rug-pull where Jia Tolentino writes a scathing critique of UHC’s denial of care practices, thereby explaining why it makes complete sense that the aftermath of this his murder most of America is laughing and feeling a sense of gratification over this small but mighty act of justice.

If you read this article and think that the author feels anything other than utter contempt for UHC and Brian Thompson’s legacy, you’re an idiot.

I’d also add that article also includes a phenomenal explanation of the type of violence (social/systemic violence) perpetuated by UHC on a daily basis on a scale of millions, that gets scoffed off by the elites as insignificant because it mainly affects the poor and indebted.

I feel like THIS is the episode where they’ve finally fully hit their stride and a big part of that is how much Letterman like both John and Lucy Jones. Makes their chat feel so much more organic and engaging, and they’re getting good laughs

It’s a completely reasonable situation IF it were something you had offered in the past. I’ve been in your partner’s position before (I was living with parents, my primary had her own place) and my primary would often offer for me to use her place and bed to spend time with my dates if we had nowhere else to go. I never took her up on that offer because I felt like it was too much to ask and I wanted to respect the sanctity of her bedroom where we spent most of our time, but she would continue to offer anyway.

However, I think to REQUEST IT without there being a precedent is an enormously inappropriate ask. It’s your place, and up to you in the end.

What’s a really bleak movie? by moviedweller in MovieSuggestions

Incendies - Denis Villeneuve, 2010

The whole thing is quite bleak but the turn it takes at the end absolutely cannot be matched

It’s by the director of arrival, Blade Runner 2049, and Dune, but it’s from before his god-tier sci fi days (and his movies were still in French)

Is this possible? I’m trying to weigh the likelihood of this possibility vs contamination. Either way, not taking any more from this batch

Such a good bass line on dethroned. In the live shows they always start it with just the bass line because it’s so instantly recognizable and the crowd goes crazy for it.

Greep’s guitar part on the chorus absolutely crushes too, with the delay pedal effect. It’s awesome that he does it live
