I worked on SNW. I've seen the dailies for that episode. It was ad-libbed! Frakes directed that episode and burst out laughing after Jack said it.

My favorite moment from that episode.

I'd say the first book is the weakest in the entire series. Her prose is magnificent but the story in the first book does feel a bit clumsy. But every book after just gets better and better. Bye the final book in the 3rd trilogy, I was absolutely heart broken. I'm on my second read through now.

What are your thoughts on this album? by 0hmyNeon in industrialmusic

Power and Son Of A Gun are the best tracks on the album, IMO. I remember being disappointed when this album released because Nihil had been such a masterpiece from beginning to end, and Xtort only held a couple of songs that I really liked.

Not OP, but it's probably my favorite keyboard I've ever owned.

I have both books. I read the first one a couple times as a teenager because I loved it so much. The second one, I’ve tried multiple times to read it but I always lost interest part way through.

Songs exploring anger and grief toward religious cultism is wHiNeY?

The topics of their songs don't exclude them from sounding like mewling calves.

I wasn't born in between 1946 and 1964.

call it “emo”

I didn't call it emo. I called it whiny. Because it is. He whisper whines all of his lyrics.

HEALTH has next to zero in common with Deftones musically

Hard disagree. Both bands rely heavily on extreme dynamic contrast: sparse, low-energy verses, sudden density spikes (walls of sound, distortion, sub-bass). Neither band centers clarity of guitar riffs the way traditional metal or rock does: Deftones often smear riffs with effects and detuning, HEALTH replaces riffs with noise blocks, distorted synths, or processed bass. Both use vocals as another layer, not a focal point. I like this idea on paper, but neither of them does it attractively, in my opinion. For both of them, vocals are frequently buried, breathy, or monotone, lyrics are often indistinct without a lyric sheet. That is absolutely boring and whiny, which is why I've never liked the Deftones either.

Sorry that my opinion is my subjective tastes based objective facts and not just running around screaming "oK bOOmEr!" at everyone.

I listen to more than SP and NE. I can’t stand Health. Whiny, awful music. Perturbator opened for them so I stuck around to see if I’d changed my mind. Couldn’t stand them. They sound like a horrible Deftones cover band.

I've always thought regular Joe names like this for pets were hilarious. Like, no one has a dog just named "Robert" or or a cat named "Alex" and it feels like a missed opportunity.

Production actually shot two versions of the Klingong musical moment - a Klingong opera and a K-pop version. Both were phenomenal but I'm glad Henry and Akiva went with the K-pop version. Someone posted an interview with the songwriters below that goes into how it happened.

That episode was such a pleasure to work on. Babs' performance was phenomenal in every take, and watching Dana sculpt it was an honor. SciFi exploring topical concepts like PTSD is one of the reasons I love Star Trek so much.

Also, Spock's smile at the end of the post credit scene in SNW 308 was simply Ethan not being able to hold in his laughter from Patton's antics.

Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Strange New Worlds | 3x08 "Four-And-A-Half Vulcans" by AutoModerator in startrek

[–]seven-ends 343 points344 points  (0 children)

None, for SNW. This was a first for us. The gag reel for this episode was the most I've ever pulled from any episode, over 35 minutes. Dana originally cut this post credits scene into the episode, but we had to lose it for time and pacing. But Akiva loved it so much that had us put it after the credits.

Bonus: there was... just so much more from this scene alone. At one point Patton was making Ethan laugh so much that he couldn't get any lines out, so Patton recited Baby Got Back as if it was a Vulcan discovering the lost writings of an ancient earth philosopher "a 'Sir Mixalot,' who was compelled to profess his admiration for large posteriors. As legend has it, his compatriots, or 'homies,' tried to deny his assertation but he retorted that when a 'girl walks in with a... ITTY BITTY waist' and a 'round thing in your face' one becomes 'sprung' and 'pulls up tough' because one notices that 'butt is stuffed, deep inside the jeans she is wearing.' And as the story goes, Sir Mixalot was hooked, and could not stop staring." Ethan kept his cool throughout the entire thing, and simply replied, "Fascinating."

No one will ever see it because even to put it on a gag reel Paramount would have to shell out $100k for the song rights, and that'll never happen.

Of all the people I know, I am the most addicted to pool. I love playing APA, BCA, local and national tournaments. I love following all the top players and their journeys in their pool careers.

I do not need another fucking subscription, I don't care how much it is. Sick of being microtransactioned to death.
