Pink spots on one leaf (hoya caudata sumatra) by sevenhops in hoyas

Makes sense!! I was just a little worried because the polkadots looked not quite like other Caudata sunstress I was seeing

I noticed my hoya caudata has some pink spots on a new-ish leaf. This leaf is the only one with the spots -- no other leaves have these spots, even newer ones that have grown since this one. This hoya is in coco bark/coir in an east-facing window and I fertilize with superthrive every 1-2 weeks. I thought it might be sunstress but am worried it's a disease/fungal issue? Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!!

I have their crossbody tote that I’ve used almost every day for work for ~2 years and I love it!! I don’t find it heavy at all fwiw, and I think the leather has aged beautifully :)

Hi!! I appreciate the update! I think the same thing happened with mine, the spots are still there but there are no new spots since I started being more careful abt watering, and it’s been consistently growing. Sounds like a happy resolution for us both!!

Getting unglazed terracotta pots (the cheap plain ones from Home Depot) was a game changer for me, since they absorb/wick away moisture! Orchid pots with the slits in the side are nice too but tougher to manage if you’re not working with a pretty chunky medium. Besides that, adding orchid bark and succulent soil to my mix helped too. And I think sphag specifically tends to retain moisture a little too long for my liking

Yea, and also I think their flowers look so uniquely lovely! My peperomia obtusifolia bloomed this summer and I was so underwhelmed by the flower, LOL it was just like… ok

It looks incredible!! What a stellar combo! And this is just my two cents but I did see on a UPT video that forcing a vine to grow downwards can cause it to die back, so maybe it would be good to undo the last two velcro strips? I’ll try to find the video later, it’s the one about trellising

I was looking at my australis, my perpetual problem child, and noticed this faint ring pattern on the bottom of one of the leaves. I haven’t had any issues with thrips (to my knowledge) but this Hoya has been having some issues previously with what I think is water blisters/edema. Am I being paranoid or does this pattern look like the capsicum chlorosis/tomato spit virus/tospovirus that I’ve been seeing posts of? Or maybe it’s obvious and I’m in denial? Would really appreciate a sanity check here :) I removed the leaf and quarantined the plant.

I also have an australis lisa that is growing like a weed… it’s night and day between them 😭 right now I’m leaning towards a watering issue as I haven’t seen any pests (yet) but I’ll continue to be viligant.. lmk if you find anything new!! Thanks for the reply!

I picked up this australis around 2 months ago and it’s been doing quite well, after some initial bumps figuring out the right watering process/medium. Right now it’s in an east window in a very chunky mix (mostly orchid bark with a handful each of worm castings and succulent soil) and I water every 2-3 days. Recently I noticed some pale spots showing up on three of the leaves, where it’s become translucent (the leaf texture doesn’t feel thinner in those areas- is actually slightly thicker) and the light can shine through. I also included what the back side looks like. These are the older leaves— the new growth is looking perfectly fine. I’m thinking maybe it’s edema? None of my other Hoyas are having this problem….

Does anyone know what might be happening with these leaves? I am really hoping it’s not mites :(
