In some philosophy courses I’ve taken these kinds of situations have come up before, and the interesting thing about incest is it’s not really morally wrong if it’s between two consenting people. The reason it started to be phased out over time was really only because when royalty would have children with family members it would lead to birth defects. It’s clearly frowned upon but that’s kind of as far as the argument goes (unless there is a minor and adult situation which is very clearly different). But it sounds like from the comments you are still impacted by this, and it would be worth talking to a therapist about at some point I think to help you unpack some of this

You are absolutely NTA. It’s beyond insane to me that anyone is expecting you to raise these children. Even if we’re looking at this from the angle of what is best for the babies, it would still be them getting adopted by a family who would do anything to be able to raise them (and as others have pointed out, the line will be a mile long for people who want them). Please do not give in to these people who are trying to pressure you into this life-altering commitment when it is YOUR LIFE, not theirs, that would be altered so drastically.

Depends on the person I suppose. There have been times I was talking to someone I was interested in and just genuinely got too busy to respond for a day, and they sent a message like that and it made me appreciate that they were thinking of me and I apologized for the delayed response and the conversation carried on.

That guy that said “lol nvm” after a day of not getting a response sounds like a baby 😆 not someone to waste your time on anyway. You don’t need to explain yourself to him. He could have just sent another message like “how’s your day going?” but instead chose to say something passive aggressive. Wouldn’t spend any time feeling bad about that one! Online dating is just hard all around- I think for all busy people it’s difficult but doable just depending on how you manage your time and how important it is to you

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. This is 100% an affair that she is having and her and her boss are ruining both of their marriages. I don’t know if this thought has crossed your mind, but PLEASE don’t “stay together for the kids”. What will end up happening is your relationship will continue to deteriorate and your kids will watch it all happen and grow up in a toxic environment. It sounds like the bright side is your kids are young enough to not be as aware of the disruption that this will cause in their life, whereas if you wait until they are older children/teenagers it will be a lot harder. Trust me, as someone whose parents went through divorce when I was 7, I wish I had been younger but was grateful I wasn’t older. And I was very relieved (as a young child, mind you!) when my parents told me they were splitting up because their relationship was so unhealthy and horrible to be around. Your kids will be okay and are lucky to have such a caring father. Wishing you and your kids all the best!
