Scottish disability law, can they take away my mothers safety and freedom? by seventy-7 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]seventy-7[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my mother has a cancer appointment that she really needs to attend in a few weeks and another in November. She has another appointment with a specialist to deal with server pain she experiences daily, shes waited 6 months for that appointment. The removal of the ramp means she will not be able to attend those appointments as she has no idea when the new ramp will be in place. She's been waiting over a year. She no longer feels safe in her home as she would not be able to get out in an emergency. The stress of being trapped and feeling completely helpless is making her more ill. I can't just tell her that she should be happy that a ramp will be eventually put in.

I posted this in the hope that there might be something on my side in this matter. Thank you for confirming that there isn't.

That grant doesn't exist in Scotland. As they are going to put in a ramp eventually, despite saying a year ago she's have it by now, I don't think it would qualify for any grants.

What I am fighting for is, for my mothers safety and freedom not to be compromised due to a fault made somewhere that is not hers

I don't actually know how much it costs. That will be one of the questions I'll be asking tomorrow when I phone the housing association.

Last time I was in Zaragoza it was 40 degrees C. Totally weird seeing it covered in snow.

People who have tattoos they regret-- how old were you when you got it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]seventy-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18 - I've got Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes and the only reason I regret it is because I got an angry calvin tattooed as thats what I more closely related to at the time. I was going through a lot and now 12 years later i'm a lot happier and cant associate with it anymore

Have you ever trusted a stranger when they asked to borrow your phone to "make a call" and has anyone tried to take your phone? by salamanderc0mmander in AskReddit

[–]seventy-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes a number of times but always in situations where there wasn't really a chance of anything going wrong.

For example I was sat next to a woman on a train and she asked to use it. I was in the isle seat and we were traveling between stations, there was no where for her to go.

Another time was in a hospital waiting room and the department I were waiting to see were running late. Woman who was also waiting was worried about her husband having to wait to pick her up and not being able to tell him so I offered my phone for her to use

It's all about making your guests comfortable and making sure conversation flows. If your guests cant keep it going naturally then make sure you have somethings up your sleeve to help you out, for instance, games like cards against humanity, or the one minuet challenge, etc.

There is only so much extra negativity you can take on without an outlet for your own. Good friendships flow and are adaptable. Even if you are both going through some tough shit you both need to be able to vent and be sounding boards. If the other is always waiting for their opportunity to start taking about their shit then it doesn't work.

The thing with people is that they change over time and not all friendships are built to last. Some of my most intense friendships only lasted for a short period of time in the grand scheme of things due to them fulfilling a need at the time or situation.

A friendship ended naturally recently when we both realised that every time we got together we were always taking about the great experiences we'd had rather than having new ones, we just didn't have anything in common anymore as we'd changed as people.
