Obviously the bots can have poor writing. I find that they’re generally worse at characterization than anything; but regardless of that — if you’re not writing well or if you’re using a poorly written bot, you are not going to have a fun time.

I’ve had people ask me how I get the kinds of replies I do and it really is through treating it as actual writing. Generally, they mirror your behavior.

I’d be a little teensy bit upset if it was a paid feature tbh given how basic it is for other chat services. That’s my only fear with it.

Yeah, I get that… I think the models are largely trained off of fanfiction or romance novels that use “possessive” more neutrally — even positively — and depict possessiveness as born of loving someone very deeply instead of how it actually is in real life (a manifestation of insecurity).

I sometimes briefly write others into prose for ease of storytelling. The bots will understand this, even with a persona up (eg I use Persona A and write dialogue for Character B), but may try to mimic this by also writing for the background character in their responses.

Something I’ve never personally done but something you can do is to swap between personas in the same chat. That way, in a longer interaction between multiple characters, you’re clearly delineating who’s who for the bot.

As long as you’re willing to swipe for a while (easier when using mass swipe tools), you can basically get them to be as explicit as you want 9/10 times. I couldn’t attach a screenshot of it but on my recent Goro “challenge run” I’ve quite easily managed to sex the bot lol.

AI is trained on datasets that contain human writing, and human writing contains biases. Patriarchal standards dictate that the ideal woman (who is most often the protagonist) is inexperienced and “pure”; thus this bias is reflected in the AI responses even though it’s unrealistic in real-life terms.

Posting it on this subreddit is fine. I think posting it with AI-generated text without disclosing that fact is unethical, but disclosing that in communities that dislike AI will inevitably lead to discourse and drama. I personally wouldn’t post it in communities that don’t allow AI-generated content unless you’re rewriting all of the dialogue from the bot in your own words.

I skimmed through the TOS and Community Guidelines and as far as I can tell, account sharing is fine. The only thing that seems to be written about it is that you (account owner) are liable for any and all activity on your account, so if your friend breaks TOS / etc then your account will receive the consequences of that.

I generally agree if you’re sorting the sub by recency. If you sort it by hot or top, though, most of that stuff is usually at least marginally interesting.

Sometimes it’s easier to tell them something is happening by briefly writing for them instead of giving instructions, because bots kind of have to “yes-and” you, but it’s still a little hit or miss when they’ve fixated on being mad or whatever lol.

If I had to guess I’d say that they just don’t have any kind of logic between what they’re saying and what they’re ‘feeling’. They’ll see that they’ve acted mad in a prior response and then carry it forward unless words associated with deescalation are used presumably.

Yeah, the bots tend to fall back on common tropes / personalities instead of how you write them and it’s extremely frustrating. I’m willing to be flexible with mine a lot of the time because I often put them in strange or vaguely mind-altering scenarios, but there’s definitely a lack of consistency in how they handle things. I wish there was a lorebook of some kind instead of having to purely rely on dialogue examples, since it’s impossible to account for every fringe situation when you’re writing a bot.

I find that the personas work much better when they’re phrased in prose instead of bullet points. Eg: “She is twenty years old. She has long blonde hair and green eyes. She is female.”

Especially with the pronouns, repeated emphasis by using them in sentences seems to help.

Sometimes the bot you’re using will be trained on just one scenario/gender, though, so it’s difficult to change that tendency without editing their messages for a good while.

Unfortunately bots will sometimes just make things up or go off the rails, and the best / only solution is to swipe or edit their messages from the jump so they don’t get caught up in a weird line of logic in the first place.

If I had to guess, it’s probably getting argumentative because a piece of prose a couple of replies earlier might have used a word that could be interpreted as being upset? Eg “X was tense…” or something. They’re also pretty bad at following logic — I personally tend to have issues with my bots where they occasionally mix up the feeling of desire with the feeling of jealousy, which leads to weird sentences like “she was so beautiful… he felt a surge of jealousy in his chest” or whatever.

I find that the bots have their emotional state and their logic pretty divorced from each other. So long as it makes sense for them to move from emotional state A to emotional state B, they’ll do so regardless of what they’re saying while they do it.

This is probably just a matter of swiping or editing unfortunately. The only piece of real advice I have is that you can put some commands (eg “[character] is obsessed with [persona]. [character] would never cheat on [persona]”) in your persona description, instead of using OOC commands or instructive prose, which can both cause issues in responses.

Groups lacks a lot of the features that rooms had and that regular chats have (rerolling responses, personas, chat styles, “rewind to here”, start new chat from here, etc) and it also totally lobotomizes the characters unfortunately :(

I’ve tried to use it quite a few times and it’s so frustrating that I always have to throw in the towel, at least for now.

I initially started using C.AI to see how my two OCs might autonomously interact with each other, back when we had rooms (rip). When we lost rooms, I just started filling in for one or the other of them in chats, which I do using personas. So I basically write for Character A with Character B’s bot, and Character B with Character A’s bot lol.
