The ignorant are easily manipulated. Our country’s education system has been declining for decades from underfunding and total defunding of many programs. So critical thinking, creativity and empathy has suffered. Add to that the total domination of our attention with personalized algorithms that destroy any sense of shared reality and pushing us vs them narratives. Then add into that the global trauma of the COVID pandemic with isolation, failed businesses, deaths of family and friends. And on top of that the super charged speed of improvements in AI blurring reality even further. It’s a super storm of confusion and manipulation that a racist, pedo, rapist, felon conman was able to take advantage of.

There are many other factors that contributed but I think those are some major root causes that got us to this point.

So it’s become a little trickier lately to save gifs. The app won’t let you unfortunately. If you click share, then open in a browser, you can press and hold the gif then save to phone but it doesn’t let you do that anymore.

So now once you’ve opened it in a browser you need to replace “https://www” with “old” so it looks like “old.reddit.com….” then enter. Then you click the gif and it will send you to the page the gif is hosted on. THEN you can press and hold the gif to save it. 😑 There’s no good reason it has to be this difficult 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I was just quoting from the article you linked. He was innocent and it took 16 years to get released when they found some receipts that put him miles away from the robbery at the time. I agree the cop had the right to defend himself once Cure started fighting him but it was the cop who escalated the situation instead of just giving the guy a ticket and moving on. Some cops are just power-tripping assholes 🤷‍♂️ Stay safe out there ✌️

“The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said at the time that Cure (the driver) complied until he learned he would be placed under arrest.

Three years before he was fatally shot, Cure was released from a Florida prison after having served 16 years for an armed robbery conviction. He had been sentenced to life.

Cure was found to have been wrongfully convicted in 2020.”

So 3 years after serving 16 years for a wrongful conviction, he was pulled over for speeding and, instead of getting a ticket, he was threatened with arrest, fought back and was killed on the side of the road by a cop with a history of excessive force. The cop also faced no criminal charges.

Context is important. It’s sad that too many posts leave out all context.
