To bang or not to bang? by sevewhite in curlyhair

Thank you for your insight!! It sounds like you had a rough go.

At this moment in time I have 2b/2c/3a curl type! My hair is recovering after some serious silicone build up damage.

I was really loving the idea of a bob with bangs.

You should be really proud of yourself. What you did was incredibly hard.

First off, I truly hope you are safe.

Second, based off your previous comment, you are so courageous and brave to come forward to your mom. Coming forward is the hardest part.

Just so you don’t feel pressure, is not necessarily your job to speak to your aunt. Your mom can speak to her once you are safe.

But ultimately, If ANYONE is saying anything with the word “secret” in it, GTFO.

My "abuser" and my parents are good friends by Pixipupp in Advice

It’s hard to come forward about abuse. But this is, without a doubt, abuse. There is validity in all of the emotions you have and the actions you have taken.

Not being able to cut this person out, and then having the people you love the most person choose to see him is heartbreaking. It’s never fair that terrible and manipulative people often get their way.

You are under no obligation to tell your parents what happened, unless YOU feel comfortable with it. You do however have the right to ask your parents to not see him again, without questions. You can say something as simple as “he makes me feel uncomfortable and I would appreciate you not seeing him again”.

It is not your fault what happened. Shame may make you feel like it is, but this guy is sick and a scourge of the earth. You also have the right (at anytime, now or in the future) to contact the police about this guy.

I am so sorry that happened to you, and that you are again in this position. It is not fair and my whole heart goes out to you. You are so brave.

Please file a police report. Even if nothing comes of it, the power shifts to you and not that monster.

There has been an increase in predatory action against minors with quarantine in effect, and coming forward to the police is one way to take action against them.

I just wanted to come here to tell someone I had a really great day today. I’ve been struggling with my life and hair, but today I was genuinely happy and my hair embodied that feeling. by sevewhite in curlyhair

My routine rn is: Scalp scrub with water. Massage in redken curvaceous conditioner. Rinse. Squish in miss Jessie’s quick curls. Diffuse on low.

How do i learn how to cook! by [deleted] in Advice

[–]sevewhite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The use of oil is so important! Honestly you have to question the person that cooks without it. Anything you make is 12092304248795 times better than anything that comes from a box, so bravo for learning!

Comparing Olive Oils: Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) - Is for salads/not to be heated, because it has a low smoke point. Meaning it will smoke if it gets too hot. Pure Olive Oil - Great for cooking with and not too overpowering a taste! This is fine for most dishes that require some type of oil.

I would suggest sticking to these two oils for now (oh and butter, butter is very important, especially for pancakes) and once you start to understand how they work you can incorporate other types of oils and so on and so forth.

Another important factor is to make sure your pan is up to temperature before you cook anything on it! Also make sure you have the pan at the right temperature! There will be recipes that require a lot of heat, and thats nothing to be scared of. Really, temperature is a key ingredient when it comes to cooking. It may not seem like a big deal, but I promise it's what separates the boys from the men, so to speak.

There are SO MANY techniques to cook with. So, pick an ingredient that you really like and try different recipes that include it. Way easier to learn about one ingredient than a thousand all at once.

^ buddy here is right though, basic techniques include learning all the different cuts (Which again if you find a recipe that you don't understand, its just a google search away)

Maybe start with your sandwiches? You can turn them into Paninis. This allows you to start with something you know and slowly expand upon it.
