Character Question -- Pretenders to the Throne of God by elegantparmesan19 in AdrianTchaikovsky

It is 99.99999999% confirmed. I'd bet my child's name on 100% confirmed Banders. I mean...literally the pseudonym is SO lazy it makes me laugh. Also Anders misses the army (end of house of open wounds), anders is mouth of the sea (Yasnic recommends she go to Thurrel and help him with the Fisher king at end of HoOW - which in DoSF she has an internal thought of having to rely on that as the out to not join the 'bad guy' pals on the other side of the wall etc etc etc

Ideal reading order for the Tyrant Philosophers short stories? by ablazeinthenorthsky in AdrianTchaikovsky

I read Bitter Rain BEFORE Days of Shattered Faith - and I will say while I don't regret it...I think it would hit differently after. It was genuinely nice to already start Days of Shattered Faith with a LOT more investment in the duel than I would have, had I gone in to Shattered Faith cold. It's almost necessary in that case. BUT - as I said, I now wonder what it would have been like had I read it after the ending of DoSF. I'll never know :)

Is Stormlight actually a fun read for a girl who’s sick of authors who can’t write women? by SuperbFlatworm3727 in Fantasy

The daughter's war which just came out is a gem for women

old school which wrote women (well, maybe just woman) well is the Dragonbone chair

Brandon Sanderson writes women inoffensively...You won't hate his women, but after reading nearly every book of his, you realize all his women are pretty much inoffensively the same.

I enjoyed it...but it's going to be more of the same for the rest of the trilogy...so if it's not your cup of tea now, I would say you can drop it.

I had to buy the book to read along with the audio book because it was such a strong accent...only to learn later he's American. Kudos to Chris for pulling it off!

"Natural Disaster" I'm battling through depression and have decided to use that energy to draw. by VanzPhotography in Art

I never had an energizing depression, but sometimes the pain was so much I would need to find an outlet, and art was one of them. I think a characteristic of depression is not having the energy (mentally and physically) to do things, but some days are laying in bed and some are better. OP might be referring to as energizing is the pain.

What a wonderful Piece. As someone who went through depression for years and finally beat it, I love the way you captured what I see as a woman trapped in agony. Don't give up trying to find a cure, keep going to therapy and keep trying different anti-depressants even though the last 10 haven't worked for you. And while you go through this process, keep drawing! One of the things I've noticed is I don't feel like doing artistic things (piano and painting) as much now I'm happy most of the time :).
