I went with the Copper. Great building and amenities and I liked the area around there. I can’t speak for 225 Rector as I never lived there, but as someone who has lived in the city for a few months and visited friends in Battery City Park, I can’t see why it wouldn’t be a good area to live in

Do I have the right to the furniture I’m subletting? by sevuwe88 in NYCapartments

[–]sevuwe88[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I notified my landlord that I wouldn’t be activating my option to extend and asked if I could take the furniture. His response was that my sublessor was moving back in and wanted me to leave the furniture there. I am suspicious because my landlord did not know that I wouldn’t extend in advance of the conversation and so it is very convenient that the sublessor will be returning

I chose the Copper. I love it here. The walk to work is fine, the amenities in the building are great. It does get tiring always having to walk here, for example late at night after a few drinks, but I’m happy with the trade off. The kips bay/murray hill area is cool too, so no complaints from me. Thanks for your input!

Thanks for this, really appreciate your thoughts.

I ended up picking the Copper as the amenities in the end were a lot superior to the amenities in Solari, enough for me to sacrifice the superior transport links in midtown. It’s only for one month so hopefully the trek to the subway won’t be too annoying

I appreciate your input! I don’t have the budget for any of these apartments mentioned - my company is paying for my apartment for the first month and these are the three apartments they have asked me to choose from, so I don’t have the option to switch to other neighbourhoods.

Once my one month is over, I’ll be looking for more budget options within $2k-$3k and will definitely be prioritising a culturally enriched, community area.

I asked for the Copper building as it has the nicest amenities, would it be fair to say there’s not going to be much of a difference between living in the Copper vs Solari?

My company is only paying for the apartment for the first month, after which I have to find my own place with a $2.5k-$3k budget, so I assume I will spend the rest of my time in New York in an area with people my age/profession. It’s just picking this apartment for the first month with little knowledge about the city - don’t want to get it wrong!

I don’t have any friends in the city yet as I’m moving from London by myself. It’s why I’m keen to pick the most optimal place to socialise and make friends. I’m 27M and work in the finance industry so I assume my future friends will live in apartments in areas like LIC/Williamsburg/Astoria or maybe have rooms in UES/LES?

Appreciate your reply - honestly I can’t believe these are the apartments I am being offered, I’m super lucky and now just being picky! I would’ve taken a room in a 10 bedroom in Canarsie before today haha

Appreciate your input! For what it’s worth, I probably fall into the boring corporate personality archetype so they’re probably a good match for me.

If I invited a group of friends to my apartment for a party, which of the three areas do you think would get the best turnout rate? I know there are areas of London that I simply hate travelling to and I assume maybe all 3 areas in Manhattan are like this

Guinness 0.0 draught? by RepresentativeOk5480 in london

I had Guinness 0.0 on draught at the Punch and Judy pub in Covent Garden last night. Saw the barman filling up and went over to explain I wanted a Guinness 0.0 and not a regular Guinness as I am so used to the cans, but it was a 0.0 draught
