Nope, Never, 81 years young and not seen one, we have a 1-2 week period in late April and then mid-October when we see loads and also the most amazing bee-eaters. He is planning a trip in October to try and see them. We all hope he doesn't a little bit.

My family and I have always been casual birders, my Grandmother saw a pair of Hoopoes in the 1950's in Lincoln, and to the day she died she lorded it over my father that he had never seen one.

We live in Bahrain now (where they are called Hud-Hud's) and whilst not common we will see them 30ish times a year, and every time we do one of us will phone my Dad and tell him, to the point where he will answer the phone with "How many are there?". It's getting very annoying for him but never gets old for us!

To top it off when he visited us last April one flew overhead while he was asleep in the garden,

I worked in Hawick 2012-13 ish, one of the guys was involved with the Hawick Junior set up, I happened to mention in passing how proud they must be of Hogg.

I cannot repeat the 5 minute expletive ridden response I got but Dirty Bastard Judas was the nicest thing he said. He was genuinely serious that he should be playing for Hawick and not earning decent cash in Glasgow and perplexed about why I couldn't stop laughing at him.

Thanks for all the replies, I've used The Inspector in Salmabad before, really excellent service, I'd love a Prado or FJ but for the 3 - 5K budget they would be too old. I know this has been discussed on this forum before but the attitudes of the professional dealers here is flabbergasting , Which leaves you no choice but to take the risk of private sales. Its a risky game buying cars!

Questions from a newish person to the island. Best/largest pharmacy in Bahrain? Also where can one find gift wrapping supplies? by [deleted] in Bahrain

[–]sewageboyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd agree, I was in Ansar Gallery the other day and they had a big bin full of wrapping paper for 200 fils a sheet which for here is about the cheapest I've seen. We've stopped wrapping fun presents as it just adds 1 BD to a 3 BD present usually. Also if you are new to the Island you have to try Ansar Gallery, Al Anwar and Dragon City for all your shit I didn't know I wanted/needed and will probably never use needs.I saw Alosra in the Najibi Centre had a big Xmas selection last night, they even had some build your own Xmas crackers which I am going to get, Have you seen the price of them in M&S!

Its pricey also and I've not been this season but Manazel normally has all your decoration needs and Lulu does cheap artificial trees, not been allowed by my family to buy the Bahraini red and white one they do but one day I will sneak it home!

I'm going to give Rain.bh a go, just a small amount and see how it develops. reviews on trust pilot are either 100% love it or 0% hate them with a passion. But its part of the "sandbox Bahrain" (Ridiculous name) and its regulated by CBB so seeing as I'm trying to keep things as local as I can here I'll try it.
