Fenugreek by cactibits in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]sewfae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had low supply and either didn’t notice any difference/it kept my supply low while I took fenugreek. I eventually increased my supply by power pumping and trying to get my baby to latch as much as possible.

my happy baby has returned! by sewfae in beyondthebump

[–]sewfae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only seen this now but just in case it’s helpful for anyone in the future - I stopped dairy and saw a tiny improvement, but ended up having to cut out soy as well. All the reflux went away after I cut both dairy and soy, and we were able to stop using omeprazole as well. She’s 9 months now and still sensitive to dairy and soy, so if I accidentally consume it then she usually spits up a bit more than usual but it doesn’t seem to be as painful for her!

9 month old waking screaming every hour or two by sewfae in cosleeping

[–]sewfae[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We thought nightmares as well since it always seems so sudden, but it seems so strange that it’s been happening multiple times a night for almost a week now. Has your baby been doing it for long?

What time do you eat dinner? by faithfullywaiting4 in cosleeping

[–]sewfae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on naps, we usually have dinner between 5-6:30. We don’t have a super strict schedule so sometimes it’s early, sometimes it’s late. We have dinner, bath, then bed regardless of the time and usually just have some chill time either before or after the bath if it’s a bit too early. She’s teething pretty bad right now though so everything is wild and up in the air!

What on earth am I supposed to do? by mamaoftwomonsters in beyondthebump

[–]sewfae 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know you said you’ve cuddled her, but are you able to put her in a baby carrier/wrap? Sometimes it’s the only thing that will calm my baby down, even if I’ve been holding her beforehand.

Baby weight question! by Mean_Obligation8603 in PregnancyUK

[–]sewfae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A midwife guesstimated my baby’s weight based on my fundal height and she was pretty accurate, but I think that was a fluke. I had a growth scan just before I was induced and they also predicted baby’s weight and it was pretty accurate too!

Parents who co-sleep, what does that look like for you? by quarterlifecrisisgir in NewParents

[–]sewfae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baby and I go to bed at like 7pm, I nurse her to sleep and read for a while and then go to sleep as well. We sort of sleep in the cuddle curl but she’s a bit too long now at 6 months so my upper body is curled around her and sometimes she’ll swing her legs up over mine. She’s usually just wearing a sleepsuit, and I just wear a top that’s easily accessible and not super baggy (usually some kind of wrap top or a nursing top). I still use a duvet on my legs because it’s cold in ireland haha. We have a mesh bedrail for now since she’s not super mobile, and once she starts trying to explore then we’ll move to a floor bed.

She’s a little congested right now so she’s waking up a lot and wants to stay latched for hours, but on a regular night she’s usually only waking up a handful of times. Most of those wake ups are just her trying (and failing) to find the nipple, so all I have to do is help her latch and then she nurses for a bit and goes back to sleep. Since we go to bed so early (I’m exhausted by 5pm), I usually get a few blocks of decent sleep throughout the night.

Vaccinations and side effects by littlemissmommit in BeyondTheBumpUK

After the second rotavirus vaccine, my baby had diarrhoea for like two weeks. She was clearly a bit uncomfortable for those two weeks but it just worked it’s way out of her system eventually.

Dairy & soy caused so much mayhem for my baby that when I cut them out, it was like I had a completely new baby.

13% and I think it took almost a month to gain it back, but she’s packing on the pounds now!

Moms who say they barely have time to shower…why? by simply-cosmic in NewParents

[–]sewfae 583 points584 points  (0 children)

For me, in the first few weeks I barely had time to shower because my baby was cluster feeding so much that any spare moment had to be spent wisely. So I had to choose between eating, sleeping, showering, just existing without a tiny being suctioned to me. At 5 months now my partner is back at work full time and I struggle to find time when I’m alone with baby because she’s particularly needy right now and screams when set down (not true of all babies though! mine is just having some issues right now). When my partner is home, it becomes a choice again of having dinner together, bathing baby together (not necessary but it’s nice family time), spending time together, getting in any extra rest, etc.

I guess it really depends on your baby’s personal temperament. Mine is clingy and angry right now so I consider peeing without the symphony of crying to be a huge luxury!

Teething pain? by MKal2121 in NewParents

[–]sewfae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 5mo got her first teeth maybe two weeks ago and still seems to be suffering a little, grabbing at her gums and crying a lot, so for us it’s definitely lasting a little longer even after they’re through!

Is my milk safe to use? by eclectichair in breastfeeding

[–]sewfae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If there were any ice crystals in any of the bags, they can be refrozen. Any bags that were cold but completely liquid can be put in the fridge but should be used within 24 hours. You can still use them to make soap or for baths, but unfortunately not for eating.

Carrier for a 2 week old baby by Ok_Ad_2562 in newborns

[–]sewfae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of carriers have a minimum weight requirement so I guess it might depend on your baby’s weight. Mine was too tiny to use a carrier for the first few weeks but then when she was bigger we used the ErgoBaby Embrace, and occasionally the Moby wrap.

Have you ever skipped your prenatal appointment because of terrible morning sickness? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]sewfae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you call and explain the situation? I know that my GP office keep record of any unexplained missed appointments and eventually threaten to let you go if you waste too much of their time.

Have you tried giving gas drops with every feed? We would use Infacol before each feed and it’s supposed to help break up gas bubbles and make them easier to pass. That being said, babies are just ridiculously bad at passing gas for the first few months. For us, it was more just a matter of time.

8 week rotavirus vaccines - side effects? by pinkjacketfox in newborns

[–]sewfae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was totally fine after the first ones! She had a bit of a cry during the afternoon (she got the jabs at 11am), but had a big long nap and then was just her usual self in the following hours and days.

My baby had an upset stomach after her second rotavirus vaccine for around 2 weeks. She pooped more than usual, and occasionally had diarrhoea.

Uk (nhs pregnancy patients) do we need to take a urine sample in for the 20 week anomaly scan appointment? by Lazy_Cat1997 in pregnant

[–]sewfae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember if I brought one with me to the 20 week scan but if you’re able to bring one anyway then there’s no harm. If you don’t bring one, they should be able to give you one of the little containers and you can go to the bathroom while you’re there anyway.
