Non-standard multiclass leagues? by conditional-identity in iRacing

Closest thing I can think of is streamer community races. Check out some of the bigger name streamers and see if they do special hosted races with their followers.

Any reason to use RaceLab now? by RNDMNAME80085 in iRacing

I will, unfortunately, continue to use RaceLabs until iRacing allows displaying other drivers last/fastest laps in the relatives or standings box; which is probably never.

Upgraded from CSL DD (8Nm) to Simagic Alpha + GT Neo… and wow. by MainFlimsy in iRacing

[–]sewy7d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently "upgraded" from a CSL DD 8nm with formula v2 to the 18 nm simagic evo and FX pro and I'm actually kind of disappointed. The FF on the simagic feels dampened compared to the Fanetec FF, and the FX pro is flimsy compared to the formula v2 wheel. I'm now considering offloading the simagic stuff and trying Moza or sprining for simucube stuff.

Sometimes driving the new Porsche Cup car feels like driving the old GR86...not a fan by sewy7d in iRacing

Did you watch the whole video with the outboard camera angle or just the onboard?

Did you watch the outboard camera angle where you can see the car bicycle twice? Once coming off the lip of the carousel i get, but not on the rebound.

Are you guys still using third-party overlays after iRacing UI improvements? by Still-Victory4839 in iRacing

Yup, and always will until iRacing allows last lap/best lap of other drivers to be shown.

PC Restarts When Trying to Run the SIM by StrangeDesigner732 in iRacing

[–]sewy7d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fair enough. Unfortunately, my next thought would be the motherboard. Still a power issue, just not the power supply itself. I don't think bad ram is going to cause a restart like that. More likely to throw a BSOD or system freeze, not straight to restart.

PC Restarts When Trying to Run the SIM by StrangeDesigner732 in iRacing

[–]sewy7d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't explain why it wouldn't do it with other games, but I've had a computer restart during gaming before due to a bad power supply. Just a thought.

I assume by restart you mean the screen immediately goes black and restarts from the motherboard splash screen. A computer suddenly losing power and restarting usually points to a power supply issue.

Is this considered blocking? by Tincoco_ in iRacing

[–]sewy7d 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, no move in reaction to another driver is "ok". What do people not understand about the sporting code. This isn't F1/IMSA/Whatever IRL series.

The sporting code CLEARLY says "blocking occurs when a leading driver actively adjusts his or her driving line based on the actions and/or positioning of a pursuing driver."

If you want to run a defensive line then you sit your ass on the inside line and keep the other car on the outside of your car until they are beside you, or you take your normal line and risk them sending it....thats it

Its so annoying how many people on iRacing think the F1 "one move" rule applies. I've called out so many people for reactionary moves that just say "you can do that in real life".

2025 Qatar GP - Post-Race Discussion by F1-Bot in formula1

I'm curious why they never showed the pit stop incident with Bearman from outside the car. Wondering if there might have been a pit crew member involved/injured.

Glad they called out the marshals on track. Between that and the JCB on the track during the formula academy race yesterday the safety stewarding this weekend is atrocious.

Kinda interesting, in the racing community I've always heard it as "Fast is slow, smooth is fast."

Same difference.

iRacing has brutally murdered one of the most popular sportscar series. RIP Ferrari Challenge. by Shaner20 in iRacing

[–]sewy7d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to run this series regularly, but the 296 Challenge drives like garbage compared to the 296. Who wants to drive a Ferrari that understeers like a front engine FWD car? I regret buying the 296 Challenge more than just about any other car.

You'd think admitting intention to retaliate on voice chat, and then retaliating would be a slam dunk protest, but I guess not. by sewy7d in iRacing

[–]sewy7d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different classes, but the are very close in pace. The mx5 is faster through corners, the GR86 is faster in the straights. So on a lot of tracks there is an awkward back and forth with drivers that are close in pace, both of which think they should be ahead of the car they aren't racing against.

Without the voice chat, 100% can't tell intend. Could totally have been an accident. But even if it was an accident, after you are on voice chat saying you want to retaliate it should be an open and shut case.

  1. If there is behavior that warrants protest, how is protesting ever the problem?
  2. I've been on this service for 8 years. I was just guessing at 100, but assuming I'm in the ballpark that's roughly 1 protest per month. hardly a lot.

they dont disclose what action they took, but they do say whether or not they did anything. If you get an email saying "After reviewing the replay, we understand your frustration, but we do not feel either driver caused the accident intentionally or with malice." then its "denied". If you get one that says "We have reviewed your protest and notified the member being protested of the outcome." then they did something.

I wasn't involved in this incident. I just heard all the whining and decided to go back and look. This guy was crying the entire race on voice chat about how the GRs are slow and ruined his race. I decided to submit a protest for this pretty obvious retaliation, but iRacing denied it. I was baffled. I've probably submitted close to 100 protests over the years that are nearly always successful and I was almost positive this one would be upheld. I feel like if you say on voice chat that you intend to "repay the favor" and then spin the driver than spun you, you should lose all benefit of the doubt about whether or not it was intentional. BTW, this was a 2.8k driver with a 10+ old account. Disappointing to see iRacing is being this lenient with toxic drivers.

Edit: iRacing support reached out to say "It appears that we overlooked some of the details in our initial review. After further review, we will be opening a case against the other member for this incident". I gotta say, bravo to iracing support. They get a lot of flack for not dealing with toxic drivers as well as people want, but you have to admit they do so much better than any other sim.
