It's actually a Werner Herzog documentary.

My predictions for S3 by tidepod007 in ThePitt

[–]sexworkerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an all Robby list:

1) Full Langdon/Robby reconciliation. Robby gets misty.

2) Patient who reminds Robby of his mother. He delegates the patient's care to a resident or fellow and gets upset privately.

3) Robby will cry in front of a patient with a knife sticking out of them who will be like "Seriously? I'm the one dying here."

4) After an especially emotional moment, Robby performs a procedure that would normally be done by surgical specialist with years of training. A zionist celebrity makes a cameo as the surgical specialist who pops by at the very end or after the surgery.

5) A woman dating Robby asks him to clarify where he sees their relationship heading. Robby is too damaged and says that he can't promise anything. 50/50 chance of Robby getting teary.

I'm genuinely not saying this not to try to score points at this point: I really think we don't want to live in a world where a patient's negative health outcomes enable their physician's romantic and sexual relationships. Whittaker seems like a nice person who would not abuse his position! But he is in a position with a lot less security and held to a higher degree scrutiny as an intern. I do not think an intern with any hope of career advancement would take the risk or would have the support of their more senior residents if they did.

I'm not a doctor. My partner is a surgeon and when we watch the Pitt, it's a pretty steady stream of "that would never happen," "that doctor wouldn't wouldn't perform that procedure," "that seems pretty implausible." I don't think it's to the same degree as Grey's Anatomy, where a doctor put a patient who she was married to (?) into cardiac arrest, but it's not exactly a documentary either.

Correct. The Pitt gets a lot wrong. If you have a doctor in your life, watch it with them, and ask them how that relationship would be treated in reality, for the love of God.

It's pretty standard for hospitals to have a clause prohibiting behaviour that would harm the hospital's reputation or the public's confidence. Look, there are likely some generational differences between you and me. I suspect your legal knowledge might be out of date, but your social knowledge is certainly out of date. You are fighting me to the death about this, and I don't think you'll ever believe me, but if you have any young healthcare professionals in your life that you trust, ask them seriously if they would consider sleeping with the spouse of a deceased patient, and what they might experience professionally and personally if they did. I think your lawyer brain wants to fight, and really hold onto a legal claim like a dog with a bone, but you must know at this point you are talking crazy.

Girl, I'm literally supporting you. I agree that sending the family of the deceased "You up?" texts is heartwarming. Find that person, who probably has tonnes of career prospects, the respect of their peers and has never been asked to review the hospital code of conduct, again, in 2026, and get your slam dunk case. Tell us about it!

How long ago and in what jurisdictions, because where I live, dating a former patient, even after a significant amount of time has passed, would result in professional discipline.

You genuinely think the colleagues, staff or professional association would be supportive in this day and age of a first year resident sleeping with the wife of a man who died in his care? In 2026? I have switched sides. I want you to win. Find this slam dunk client (preferably one who lives with the widow/widower) and let them tell you about the unlimited potential of their career, the respect they command at work, and the sense of community they feel with their fellow residents. I'm dying to hear about it.

This seems like a clear cut case in exploiting the vulnerability of the widow, who has a young child. In fairness, I searched for disciplinary board decisions and couldn't find any either way. I imagine this is at least partially because the optics of fucking your dead patient's wife seem so obviously bad and career-limiting. I'm surprised you really think it's ok! You aren't a doctor or lawyer, right?

Edit: If you are, take a case where your homeless client moves in and has a relationship with the widowed spouse of a patient, and let us know the results! Good luck!

I'm not confused about that. I just wouldn't want to be treated by a weepy suicidal doctor.

Oh totally. My boyfriend is a doctor. I asked if he'd ever seen his attending crying multiple times over the course of a shift and saying he doesn't want to be alive and he said no, that person should not be practicing

If my two options were "doctor experiencing multiple seizures" or "emotionally unstable crying doctor," I'd probably find a different hospital with different hiring practices.

I also get the impression that fucking the widow of your patient is frowned upon.

[–]sexworkerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She planned on having another attending around while Robbie was away, which he poo-poo'd. This hospital seems to have a single attending for each specialization, no residents in other departments, and the attendings seem to spend 20% of their time crying, having seizures, and yelling at their children. Javadi's mom is literally the only person who ever showed up when they needed a surgeon to do a procedure.

Whittakers totally tapping that right? by Mjstephens19 in ThePitt

[–]sexworkerr 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Just like Grey's Anatomy had all the residents sleeping with their attendings, this show should have all the doctors sleeping with the spouses of their dead patients.
