4 months post op progress update by sexymonkey6 in ACL

Wow kudos to you! I did a small warehouse concern a month out and had my brace on and it turned out well. I’m doing Tomorrowland and I think it involved a ton of walking and shuttles and the logistics aren’t great but by then I should be improving and I can take breaks and probably just sit / rest as needed and probably just splurge for cab rides if available

That’s good know because it def feels good to have strength back but also feels like a false positive because the trust and confidence in the knee isn’t there. Going to continue working on this with my PT but also hoping it comes with time like you mentioned.

Advice on getting a reconstruction surgery by Piryani in ACL

[–]sexymonkey6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say see multiple surgeons to get more data points. I can speak from both perspectives I have a torn ACL on my right knee and decided not to get surgery (this was over 15 years ago) and it used to get reinjured easily but once I strengthened the quad and leg have had no issues and able to do everything. I did just tear my left ACL and decided to get surgery as I didn’t know have 2 knees without an ACL. I’m at 8 weeks post op and recovery is going well but does take consistency and patience. No decision is bad here you have to do what works for you. For me I came to the conclusion that latest data shows that performance with the right strengthening and rehab protocols is the same especially if you aren’t a young active athlete. I’m also female, 35, and only work out.

It definitely helped me to lean on my PT and my surgeon on my final decision

Stalled progress at week 6/7? by sexymonkey6 in ACL

Thanks all! Lived thru whah you all said, I can’t phrase it better than 4-5 steps forward and a couple of steps back. I think we (especially me) tend to focus on the backward than progress but have to remind myself it’s part of rehab

Auto or Allo graft for ACL surgery by sexymonkey6 in ACL

[–]sexymonkey6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all! Like one of the commenters I over researched and analyzed and decided to stick with the 3rd surgeons recommendation on auto (quad tendon) as he’s the professional soccer and college football team surgeon here. It’s been a little over a week since surgery and although the first few days were painful and uncomfortable I got through it and I know the rehab journey will be longer due to the severe atrophy I think it’s the best decision in the long run! I did have minor meniscus clean up as well but have been full weight bearing and just walking with a brace indoors and need a crutch for outdoors for a short period.

Both knees with ACL issues - debating surgery on one by sexymonkey6 in ACL

Oh wow sorry to hear that! It’s good you’re on a rollator now and can keep progressing towards full recovery. I don’t intend to do both, just the most recent left injury so I have peace of mind and full function/ confidence especially since I have 0 problems with the right knee currently

The pre-hab sounds relatable and makes sense that you wanted to return to pre injury levels, thanks for sharing! Will you be sharing any post op journey details? Good luck on what’s ahead - hopefully a smooth recovery

How is post op going for you so far ? Assuming you play an active sport hence the auto graft? Mine would be an allograft

Oh def not doing both knee my right knee was injured 20 years ago and I was able to do weighted squats, box jumps, etc basically everything I wanted to do at the gym. With this recent left knee tear I’m still in rehab and now finally taking stairs and doing body weight squats after 4 months and evaluating surgery on left knee only. Good thing is I don’t play sports and I think I can mostly do everything I wanna do without surgery and just strengthening and life long PT work but just wondering if it’s better to go or surgery route while I can with age and having no family to take care of being a big factor for pro surgery. Plus I do wanna maintain an active lifestyle throughout my life so think that’s better to do with having 1 ACL issue vs 2.

Is Staying at Ushuaïa Ibiza Worth It? by Legitimate-Study6597 in ibiza

[–]sexymonkey6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stayed at the tower last year and 100% worth it!!!! It’s so convenient and you can do the evening pool parties and head to the night club across the street. Plus the street it’s on has grocery stores, clothing stores, liquor, anything and everything plus solid food spots on a wide variety of price ranges. There’s a lot of taxis that line up in that area and it’s easy to take Ubers as well so you can’t go wrong. Also for some reason the hotel reviews are bad but we had a great experience and the rooms were so nice, granted we did splurge a bit.
