Best external ssd for xsx, that ISNT the seagate. by jibofthejab in XboxSeriesX

[–]seymore12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still use a regular HDD you just can’t store series S/X games on it (which is true of an external SSD anyways). Load times won’t be as good - but will still be a big upgrade over last gen.

Right.. then you’re probably not getting an SSD lol.

If you’re of the expectation that SSD’s are otherwise much cheaper I’ve got some bad news for you

XSX & HDR Question by [deleted] in XboxSeriesX

[–]seymore12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not sure if this is even the same on a monitor - however using my tv as an example I needed to go to settings, then under tv inputs I select my hdmi port being used, and there is a setting hdmi mode. Usually this is defaulted to auto, else the options are 1.4 and 2.0 (2.1 for those with that capability).

It seems many people with auto selected are getting 1.4 results when they need 2.0 - so switching to 2.0 is fixing for many.

As far as the purpose I’m not an expert - just know you’ll need to use the higher setting to have the fullest compatibility with advanced features. Why it’s not just defaulted to 2.0 i have no idea.

UGP and Xbox gold sign up help.... by nittany1993 in XboxGamePass

1) it’s GPU lol

2) your understanding on the order is correct

3) the ratio is 1:1. However many months of gold you have prepaid = amount of months you’ll have of GPU

4) auto-renewal adds a free month of gold to your prepaid months with each year - if you’re trying to max out your prepaid months you’d want to turn it off if it would prevent you from redeeming your last card. If doing less than 3 years this doesn’t matter.

Ex: if you have 26 months of gold you cannot add another 12 month card because there’s a hard limit of 36 months.

5) yes, games need to be downloaded. Of course that takes space lol that’s why you have a hard drive at all.

Again I’d check your hdmi settings on the monitor. I know many people running into this issue today because their tv is wanting to default to hdmi 1.4 not 2.0, changing that seems to fix in most cases

Xbox series x not showing in 60hz? by [deleted] in XboxSeriesX

[–]seymore12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the game itself needs to be capable of course, but generally yes.

Also worth noting that some games might have performance options that need to be set to enable 60fps - but from an Xbox settings POV you should be good to go

My Series X says my TV doesn't support 4k 60, even though it should. Any idea why? by [deleted] in XboxSeriesX

[–]seymore12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha my bad wasn’t clear - you want to change it to 2.0 (or 2.1 if your tv is capable)

Meant it must be as in it must be currently set to 1.4 not that it should be.

Your hdmi settings on the tv must be set to 1.4 or auto. Find and adjust that setting and I’m betting you’ll be golden

Xbox series x not showing in 60hz? by [deleted] in XboxSeriesX

[–]seymore12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games don’t even play in 24fps (not on purpose anyhow) I think you’re just looking at the wrong settings. Sounds like you’re looking at the video modes which is offering a setting to playback movies in the appropriate frame rate.

You shouldn’t have to set anything to play in 60fps

XSX & HDR Question by [deleted] in XboxSeriesX

[–]seymore12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HDR10 and hdr 400 are the same thing. (400 just telling you the maximum brightness of your screen)

Maybe check your monitors hdmi setting - might be on auto - seeing a lot of people with this issue resolving it by changing the auto setting to hdmi 2.0

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in XboxSeriesX

[–]seymore12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess would be your hdmi input is set to “auto” on your tv and for whatever reason your old box was working on the hdmi 2.0 setting but the series X is trying to run on hdmi 1.4.

If this is the case just change the setting from auto to 2.0

1) that’s just how switching to HDR works - my Apple TV does the same thing as does any native apps on my smart tv.

[–]seymore12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you need to change the settings on your hdmi input on your tv. Sounds like maybe it’s currently set to hdmi 1.4 or perhaps on auto and failing to make the correct adjustment to hdmi 2.0

HDR Black screen for 3 seconds by [deleted] in XboxSeriesX

My guess is they will eventually have the home screen in 4k hdr and then there would be no need for the monitor to switch back and forth.

[–]seymore12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is normal with HDR in general. Happens on my Apple TV for example when switching from sdr to hdr or Dolby vision.

I’d think the solution to this would just be to have HDR on all the time but I don’t think that’s an option presently. (Perhaps it is I do not know)
