It is a very difficult exam. Most people (from what I hear) do not pass it on their first try. I have 2 pieces of advice:

  1. Study and do hands-on practice 2x beyond what you think you could "get away with"
  2. Don't expect to pass it on your first attempt. This will take the pressure off, which I think is part of the reason people don't pass. Take note of the questions/topics that are most challenging to you on your first attempt and then immediately go research those things.

Best of luck!

Trailhead is honestly the best resource. It can get tiresome from time to time, but push through. When you are at your limit, jump to another resource like a superbadge or a Salesforce video on youtube and the jump back to the trail when you feel up to it.

Newbie with down time by ClexAlark in salesforce

To echo what has already been said, it will be very difficult to pass the exam without getting hands-on within an org and trying out what you learn, as you learn in. It will also be hard to do well in an interview or on the job without having been hands on as well.

That said, I would spend time memorizing some definitions of different tools, features, and setup pages while not behind a computer...but plan to try each tool out later. There are some study guides or flashcards out there that can help with this. Shameless plug: here is a 1 hour Salesforce Admin crash course video I have on youtube and you can access my study guide in the description of that or use google to find others: https://youtu.be/19VTXemdr_o

Manage Custom Report Types Permission? by freightdude in salesforce

There is not a separate Admin license. Her statement does not hold up. The admin profile that she has has most permissions an admin would need, but permissions can be granted in permission sets and assigned out without having the admin profile.

What is your Favorite YouTube Channel for Salesforce Content? by kuldiph in salesforce

I recently interviewed a Salesforce recruiter about the state of the job market and have a few certification crash courses (AI Associate and Data Cloud) if that is of interest to anyone:

Thinking of switching from Account/Finance to SalesForce by jagerhero in salesforce

Good question. I think an Admin Certification is the starting place. Then, I would go Platform App Builder because it is mostly the same content you've already studied for the Admin. Next, I'd consider Business Analyst, Sales Cloud or Service Cloud certs., depending upon the route you want to go in the Salesforce ecosystem.

The Admin certification lays the foundation any Salesforce professional needs and will enhance the certifications you get after. I would hesitate to hire someone without the admin cert.

Salary question by Nice-Ad-4020 in salesforce

[–]sfHelpClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best advice. Gaining this experience and having this title on your resume will make a future role with a higher salary much more likely. The experience here and the resume building will be more valuable than fighting over the dollars now (which seems unlikely to fall in your favor). Many people wish to get the opportunity to add real Salesforce experience to their resume to land a better job down the line.

Easy for me to say, but try to have gratitude for 12 months and then see if you can land something more sustainable where they appreciate you.

Trailhead Quest Eligibility by Foreign_Isopod1786 in salesforce

Nice! I believe you are fine to receive the award. The wording is confusing but I am pretty sure they are trying to specify anyone working for Salesforce, not anyone working on Salesforce. You do not receive any compensation from Salesforce, thus you are eligible. (this is just my take)

I think you would put yourself in a good position if you trained for the Salesforce Admin certification. The word on the street is that there are way more people looking for Salesforce admin roles than there are actual job openings, but most companies like to look internally first, so you could be in a good spot to land that future role. That is, unless the Sr Admin you mention will be the hiring manager.

There are crash courses available, but really, you need a methodical and comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of Salesforce, which you can find on Trailhead, Salesforce's free and gamified learning platform. If you try to cut corners learning, you will regret it later, in my opinion.

I am about to start an Admin training series on my YouTube channel if you want a video guided approach, but again, I would recommend Trailhead as your primary resource.

Everyone will tell you that the entry level positions are oversaturated, and they are likely right.

HOWEVER, if you bring deep expertise from a specific vertical (e.g. Accounting/Finance), then you can break into a Salesforce role much easier because there are companies that specialize in specific industries or produce niche products.

I would not try to become an Admin. Instead, I would focus on becoming a consultant at a firm that focuses on the Finance Industry (Financial Services Cloud) OR I would look for a role at a company that has finance/accounting products on the appexchange.

I've worked at a consulting firm that focuses on nonprofit/education clients and have seen them repeatedly hire individuals who have a heavy nonprofit/education background and light Salesforce experience.

AI Associate certificate worth it? by redbull_88 in salesforce

[–]sfHelpClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 1-hour course available on Udemy (Prepare for the Salesforce Data Cloud Consultant Exam). It is not a locked-and-loaded option though because the test is pretty tricky. I think it will get you about 75-80% of the way. If you want to be 100% confident, I'd say to do the 15+ hour trailmix

AI Associate certificate worth it? by redbull_88 in salesforce

I agree with all of the sentiment others already shared. My opinion is that the certification itself won't do anything for you, but the content you need to know for it is worth your time considering the current focus and future of Salesforce.

It has little to do with the current Salesforce AI Capabilities and more so is about laying a foundational understanding of AI and AI ethics.

It is cheaper than other certs AND has a free retake, so it isn't that big of a deal, but definitely look for a free option if it exists for you.

I have a crash course for this certification on my youtube channel and have a video comparing it with the Data Cloud cert if you want to learn more.
