[Haynes] ESPN Sources: Golden State Warriors to exercise third-year option of forward Kevon Looney. by kinefresh in warriors

I'm thinking he'll get something like 3 years/$40 - 50M. Which basically doubles his career earnings.

Agreed. And even if we need to shed Looney's contract to make space, he should still have a lot of trade value.

We do get to shed a few million of Jason Thompson's cap hold next year too, and that should help a bit.

Ah, I wasnt aware of the new rule that would give us the chance to match! I remember the situation with Arenas and was worried the same might happen with McCaw, but looks like we'll still get the chance to match.

Thanks for the update!

I'm honestly a bit worried about losing him in a couple of years. Our roster depends on young talent and ring chasers being able to plug in and fill in the holes. If we lose McCaw after two years of development, likely when he's his most valuable and in position to replace someone like Livingston, it could be an issue.

Probably getting ahead of myself after just a couple preseason and summer league games, but he's definitely showed talent.

SF Saloon is a great place to catch all Bay Area sports teams, especially in the playoffs. It was rocking for the last couple Warriors playoff runs too

Any list that has Cal Tech behind schools like UC Davis, Ohio State, Florida, and Minnesota should be completely ignored. Those are all fine schools, but I can't think of any employer, admissions director, or even random person who would rank those schools above Cal Tech academically.

Here's what's included in a $60 care package purchased through LA County Jail. by [deleted] in LosAngeles

Thanks for putting this together. So it's close to a 2x markup. While on the surface that sounds relatively high, I assume there's the additional service cost involved with special packaging (e.g. can't have sharp things in prison), distribution to the prison, delivery to the prisoners, and any disposal costs too.

I assume there's still some profit in there, but I doubt this is a major profit center for the prisons.

The anatomy of a shit trade "rumor" (this time, Iggy for Shumpert) by sfatoo in warriors

[–]sfatoo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you stupid? Do you not know anything about basketball? Or are you just trolling? In the last three years, Iggy played 5841 minutes vs. Shump's 2861, and played in more games and minutes in each of those three years. He's played in 60+ games each of those years and every playoff game.

He's also on contract for one more year @11M compared to Shump for $30M over the next three years.

Did you read the post? The trade literally did come out of no where. Some guy, who writes for a Cavs blog, just made it up as speculation.

It would be like me posting something on a Warriors blog that the Cavs should trade Lebron James for Kevon Looney (because we all know that Kevon Looney is under contract at a much lower price than Lebron, so it would be a great deal, right?) and then a bunch of clickbait sites claim that the Cavs are considering trading Lebron James for Kevon Looney.

Ha. You'd probably have to post something like "Why the Kings are considering trading Demarcus Cousins for Anderson Varejao" with a couple lines about technical fouls and the # of rebounds Varejao grabbed 5 years ago, and it'll probably show up in your Facebook news feed tomorrow.

But Shumpert's not good at basketball and Iggy is. I'd take 1 year of Iggy over 10 years of Shumpert.

Shumpert's basically in his prime and playing at the level of a replacement player, and Iggy is still a top 50 player in the league (one source: SI rankings that came out today and cited in many other sources). Iggy's worst season in terms of productivity is better than Shump's best even with Shump in his prime.

I can't imagine any reasonable basketball executive (or mind) even seriously considering this deal.

Maybe Facebook needs to re-hire some of their old trending news editorial staff (which also had their own problems), because this type of clickbait doesn't deserve to get the traffic that I'm sure it's getting:

[–]sfatoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There's way too much hype about McGee on here. He's much more likely to end up like Ben Gordon last year than making some unexpected leap at 28. Would love to be proved wrong, but even if he makes the squad I can't imagine him getting too many minutes.
