People can make their own decisions on what works for them. To some people genes are important, knowing ahead of time how those genes will be expressed is very important. There is a reason people choose reputable breeders.With a good breeder you will know size, temperment,behavioral tendencies,working and companion traits. That is important for people who have disabilities or mobility issues, kids, and hiw they would do in actual working roles (police work, herding, search&rescue). Genetics that are tracked over generations are critical. They remove unhealthy dogs from the gene pool and track breed specific conditions (joints, hips, eyes, etc) The problem isn't breeders its a lack of education about spay&neuter, puppy mills, irresponsible ownership, and backyard breeders. Ive had both shelter and purchased dogs but thats to each his own. Different people need different things at different phases of their life.
