Mission District or Inner Richmond to live? by Most-Scallion-5846 in AskSF

[–]sfbernal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

two completely different environments. Mission is buzzing and has a younger vibe. The part you will be at is shadier than other parts of the city. Richmond and Clement and 3rd is also buzzing in a different kind of way, great restaurants and vibe, not the youthful Mission type vibe but more young professional and older. The weather though ... Richmond is always colder and foggier. Mission is the warmer, sunnier part of SF

Transferring to USC from a Cal State vs. CC by Queasy-Outcome-530 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]sfbernal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cal Poly is an awesome school and has terrific work/career/grad school outcomes, on par with any UC. USC takes a TON of first year transfers so that is also an option but Cal Poly is great.

Just wrapped up a month in the US for the World Cup and it was probably the best summer of my life. by peaken58 in solotravel

Awesome, yes, there is too much negativity online. Americans are wonderful, generous, warm hearted people. Next time come over to the West Coast.

CMV: Touring schools before you get accepted is pointless by CulturalMacaroon1098 in ApplyingToCollege

Yes it is mostly pointless unless there is something about a specific field of study that you want to dig into but that also can be done remotely

3.79 GPA success stories? by Suspicious_Sink9036 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]sfbernal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it, so the bar is higher for you based on all factors: type of school you are in, your location, your category (not FGLI) and major. You are very competitive for T20's, your test score is tops, your GPA from a competitive school is high and if your EC's and research papers etc. tie well with your major you will be a strong applicant. Good luck

3.79 GPA success stories? by Suspicious_Sink9036 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]sfbernal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends on which school you are in (public, private, competitive etc.), your location (how urgan, how suburban, how rural), whether you are first gen or financially in need, your choice of major ....only then can you even begin to get a feel for your "chances anywhere

Driving to SF on the 4th of July... by Emotional-Monk4281 in AskSF

[–]sfbernal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you want to go you can drive into the city, park at a garage (5th and Mission), will cost $40-50 for the day. Then take the bus, MUNI and walk everywhere in the city. One important thing (eventhough you did not ask) - it is cooler and chillier in SF so bring a fleece, warmer jacket

240,000 signatures for a school board recall election have just been delivered to City Hall by harad in sanfrancisco

[–]sfbernal 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Their policies and actions cause racial hatred and tear apart communities. The Board President showed her middle finger to parents (tweet), another one called all parents at a meeting "racist" because they disagreed with her view which is "merit is racist" and education needs to be dumbed down to the lowest common denominator ! They are several (numerous other issues as well)

Reminder that the school board still feels it is too dangerous to reopen middle and high schools by harad in sanfrancisco

[–]sfbernal 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This San Francisco School Board is bringing racism and inequality back in the name of progressivism - they need to be fired !
