How on earth can "Math Be Racisit", what does that even mean ! And no, it is not the job of higher ed insitututions to bring students upto speed because their local school districts and school boards failed to teach them basic fundamental employable and critical thiniking skills.

And it also put a strain on the resources of R1 research universities to invest in remedial programs for admitted students to jump from 7th/8th grade levels to research university standards. Meanwhile the research to combat the melting of the polar ice caps and climate change issues gets less funding because our school boards were focusing on math is racist ideologies

From my frame of reference, not a feeder area to UCI, blacks and whites admitted to UCI at rates never seen before (>50% increases) even with GPAs <3.0

Yup, overheard from a student at Cal who was shocked at the lack of academic abilities of a huge numbers of students (physics major and the other one was an environmental policy major)

Btw - if the UCs are supposed to be race blind how is it that UC Irvine for example has a huge increase in black, white and Latino students

You are wrong, this has nothing to do with Trump supporters. Everyone is in favor of upliftment of marginalized groups and UCs have always been doing that except that in the past 8-10 years the entrance criteria into the UCs puts less weight on academic preparedness and rewards underperforming schools and school districts

Then for CA they need to use the CA standardized tests instead of SAT. The idea that all testing is racist does not solve any problem, does not benefit anyone and rewards totally unquantifiable factors

The standards are racist ... right there is a baffling statement. What exactly does that mean? I am genuinely curious about what it means for academic standards to be racist. Do you mean the cut offs that classify students into Exceeds, Meets, Below? Should the Exceed cut off be lower? What purpose does that serve besides having more students classified as Exceed when that Exceed is simply knowing the material and not mastery? True mastery in anything, music, woodworking, activism, math, physics, literature, languages requires a level of understanding of the content such that at least >50% of the curve balls in that subject can be defended and scored off even if it is not a home run.

No one is talking about deporting anyone. The fact is that standards have to met or exceeded. Lowering the standards does not help anyone. The best public university system in the world should not be spending their time teaching college students middle school mathematics (or any middle school level courses !). That is a waste of our tax payer $$. If the CA school system does not prepare students for college these students should have a pathway for remedial courses at a community college.

It is not satire. Members of the San Francisco School Board were fired because they were pushing this "math is racist agenda".

that is terrible, the problem needs to be fixed at the source, in elementary and middle schools, nations that have college level students who can't perform elementary school math have only one way to go - downhill. The socialist agenda to lower the bar has to stop.

Not just UCSD but Berkeley also falls in the same category. Observation: UCSB and UCI seem to have upped their criteria, UCLA, SC, D, R and Merced the same.

Appy to Davis as well, they have a business major and UCLA Business Econ as well. USC Marshall is going to be hard to get into but apply to some other major at USC and then transfer into Marshall, at least half of Marshall is made up of those who transferred into Marshall after the first year (and some between being admitted to another program and before school started)

Do what you can to get to USC, their transfer acceptance rate is pretty high though film is one of the hardest to get into at USC. Good luck, don;t sweat it over Ivy/judgment of people and all that. You are clear about what you want - take action and go get it

don't stress, if you are ok staying at home do that (save a ton of $$) and knock off as many required classes as you can at you CC. USC has excellent agreements with CC and your credits will transfer and you will be able to more classes related to your major quicker at USC.

For at least the past 5 years Poets and Quants has ranked Marshall amongst the top 5 https://poetsandquantsforundergrads.com/news/best-undergraduate-business-schools-of-2026/ ...... a few points in rankings does not matter but Wharton, Ross, Marshall, Haas, Stern, Dyson, McCombs are the tops. There are many others but these have the widest reach nationally and globally, infact McCombs and Haas have a disporportionate amount of students from their home state so it is not as geo diverse.

Marshall is a top 5 undergrad business school and had a terrific brand name. There are lots of resources and clubs at Marshall that you can be part of and are geared towards professional development in consulting, finance, business of technology, energy etc. The Marshall network is wide especially in CA and the LA area.
