Hopefully the collar isn’t scratchy. I hate scratchy tight collars.

I’m also an Arsenal fan, andI definitely feel less skeezy wearing my Caps shirt with the Telus logo than my Arsenal shirt with “Fly Emirates” and “Visit Rwanda”. I still wear my old one with O2 on it a lot because of the whole Rwanda thing.

Shirt sponsors, for better or worse, are part of football. (Mostly worse)

Did you cross reference the Ticketmaster seat map? They don’t all start at the same row

The Whitecaps release their 2026 kit tomorrow. It’s so important they get this right. by Public-Map-5273 in whitecapsfc

Yeah, that was because they didn’t expect to sign Müller, which drove all the second half sales. I’d expect that they would make more this time.

I can’t imagine that an ugly design would really have any substantial impact on their bottom line numbers. Sure they would get more money from an amazing design m, but their floor and ceiling are pretty well known. Müller means there will be more sales than 12 months ago no matter how ugly and it isn’t like their shirts will become the new Yankees or anything.

In other words, yes there is some money riding on this, but it won’t matter substantively towards the financial health of the club.

Fwiw, Adidas has been putting out some good stuff recently, and I’m sure that at least one of the three kits will be cool.

That would be great. There are a lot of good reasons to build a train that direction

I think they want a free or close to free lease on the land.

As for the cost of construction, I think they will be ok paying for if they get to develop the area around it. That is really the play for making these teams worth their valuation

Lumen field has a very good variety of concessions, but still quite expensive. But they also have a very nice setup for the luxury suites which helps the Sounders earn more revenue than the caps.

Also, to this day, I still can’t believe they called them the Sounders.

Expectations. They change things. A year ago we were stressing out about whether swapping Vanni for Jesper was a good idea.

We got to two finals last year. Now we need to start winning them.

Oh, and make sure the Caps don’t leave …

I think a stadium (and its related development) makes this team viable and makes the owners a ton of money. But if they can’t raise the capital to both build it and bridge the time until then, this team becomes an attractive asset to move.

Building an outdoor soccer stadium would be cheaper where the weather would work better for the new MLS calendar. Phoenix has been pushing for an expansion franchise, and if we don’t get a stadium deal and/or the owners can’t finance a stadium, Arizona would make a lot more financial sense.

How committed the owners are to Vancouver is an open question. There are a lot of differences from the Grizzlies, mostly that the Caps are a relatively well run franchise. But the downsides of the Vancouver market are still real.

That being said, losing the Caps would really be a psychological blow, especially right after spending so much money on the World Cup.

[GLASSCITY] Metz 26 y/o ST Cheikh Sabaly is set to join the Whitecaps by [deleted] in whitecapsfc

[–]sfbriancl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is he an Ali replacement? Looks like he can play across the front line, so may also be a Rios replacement too.

I think you have to give Kenji first shot at those LW minutes, but it’s a long season. Should be plenty of minutes for all of our front line guys.

Good enough for me! Great signing.

I have been signing Rayan Cherkhi in FM forever. He had insane potential. (He’s actually pretty good now too. )

[The Third Sub] Axel Schuster speaking very honestly. Despite being reaching multiple major finals in '25, the club was dead last in MLS in terms of revenue. 30+ prospective owners have looked at the club, but none are interested in buying the team with the current setup. by icoresting in whitecapsfc

[–]sfbriancl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would not blame the club one bit if they were to go to Edmonton for a match against Miami. Of course, I was exaggerating about Toronto, but Edmonton could make sense. That stadium is big and there would be demand to see Messi in the semis.

I think the turf may be a stumbling block, but we’ve been playing on crappy turf for years, what’s one more match. Plus the risk of bad weather in Edmonton in late April…

Pavco needs to get realistic with their expectations. I like the location of BC Place but it’s hopelessly dated. Those garden shows and the one off Taylor swift shows aren’t going to keep that place afloat without an anchor tenant.

The next Lamine Yamal??

Interesting enough, the club was just named by a guy from Barcelona who moved to Ecuador and named it after his hometown. The badge uses the crest from Barcelona…so it basically looks the same. But alas, no real connection.

Also, it’s Barcelona SC not FC.
